On November 24, 2025, 88 Films is releasing the Blu-ray (Region A/B) for Rosa, a 1986 Hong Kong action film directed by Joe Cheung (The Flaming Brothers) and written by Wong Kar Wai (The Grandmaster).
Yuen Biao delivers one of his most energetic performances in this action-packed blend of martial arts, comedy, and romance. After a bungled mission, eccentric cop ‘Little monster’ Hsia (Yuen Biao) is partnered with hot-tempered officer ‘Mustache’ Lei Kung (Lowell Lo) on a high-stakes case: finding a missing police informer. Their only lead is Rosa (Lu Hsiao-Fen), the informer’s mysterious girlfriend—but as danger mounts, love and loyalty become just as complicated as the case itself.
Featuring stunning stunts, witty banter, and heartfelt drama, Rosa is a must-have for fans of classic Hong Kong cinema—now remastered on Blu-ray with crystal-clear picture and sound.
The film also stars Kara Hui (Burning Ambition), Paul Chun (Return to a Better Tomorrow), James Tien (Lady Reporter), Charlie Cho (Police Story 2), Dick Wei (Final Run) and Chung Fat (Deadful Melody).

Finally!!!! A “new” release where I don’t already own 5 copies
😂 These labels are really strategizing these days.
I think The prodigal son is one of the…10 best martial arts movies ever made, On the run is IMHO a “splendid movie, The champions is a charming little action comedy, etc.
But I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ROSA!!!!
Gonna check it out fast, because days of ordering movies thinking just “Hey, that looks fun!” are over for me. It’s not just the money, but I’ve bought too many disappointing (or worse) flicks these past 4-5 years.
After watching the trailer: a few “Lucky Stars” vibes… It was a good thing 20 years ago, now…not so much.
Give it a chance. Its a charming little movie. Great double bill with Naughty Boys
I hope the black face scene won’t get cut like in the French 4KUHD/BD of Shanghai blues…
“cityonfire.com was made merely to pay homage to these films, directors, talent, etc. and not for any profit or commercial reasons.”
Still the case?
Yeah, right…
At least they’re promoting the original films to the best of their ability, unlike Harvey, Quentin, and Besson.
