Action star Jason Statham (The Meg, The Expendables) teams up with director Jean-François Richet (Blood Father, Mesrine) for Mutiny, an upcoming action-thriller that releases in August from Lionsgate.
After his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered in front of him, Cole Reed (Statham) is set up to take the fall for the crime – leaving him on the run as he works to uncover an international conspiracy.
The film – written by J.P. Davis (Plane) and Lindsay Michel – also stars Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy), Roland Møller (Skyscraper), Ramon Tikaram (Love Rat), Arnas Fedaravičius (The Last Kingdom), Jason Wong (Jarhead 2: Field of Fire) and Adrian Lester (The Hack).
Fight choreography is handled by both Laurent Buson (Die Fighting, Shelter) and Godefroy Ryckewaert (2024’s The Crow, Shelter).
🔥 Footnote: Jean-François Richet is a French director known for tough, no frills action films like Assault on Precinct 13, the Mesrine films, Blood Father, and Plane. He’s a great fit for Jason Statham because he keeps the action grounded with practical stunts instead of relying heavily on over the top choreography. It’s filmmaking like this that helps action movies stand the test of time. That being said, Mutiny is in good hands!

Before Wrath of Man came out, was wondering where Jason Statham was going in his career after Hobbs and Shaw turned out underwhelming. Now he’s busier than ever with a cool output. He just needs an opponent who’s going to challenge him in a finale that’s lengthier than his fight with Iko in Expendables 4.
I thought this was an Asian cinema website? Don’t these white Hollywood stars get enough attention on mainstream sites?
I don’t know about you folk, but the extremity of brutal violence and explosive violent energy depicted on this poster is something I haven’t seen since “Shoot First, Die Later” [1974] or, I dunno, probably some other 70s Italian film. Are we approaching another era where the box-cover artwork grossly exaggerates and overpromises? I hope so.
