We’ll finally see Jason David Frank’s final performance in Well Go USA’s Legend of the White Dragon. The late martial arts actor is best known for playing Tommy Oliver in the popular Power Rangers franchise.
This highly anticipated fantasy-action movie – something of an unofficial follow-up to the Power Rangers franchise – comes from filmmakers Aaron Schoenke and Sean Schoenke (Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe).
Legend of the White Dragon follows follows Erik Reed (Frank), a former hero forced into hiding after a devastating battle destroys part of his city and exposes his identity. Once celebrated as the White Dragon, Erik is now blamed for the destruction and cut off from the life and family he left behind. As corruption spreads through Virtuo City, Erik is drawn back into saving a world that no longer trusts him. He must confront his past and decide whether the White Dragon still belongs in a city that has already judged him, all while facing an enemy who wields the same mysterious energy that once defined him.
In addition to co-directing, Aaron Schoenke stars alongside Frank with Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum), Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor (Black-ish), Michael Madsen (Diamond Cartel), David Ramsey (Arrow), Jason Faunt (Jekyll), Rachel Brooke Smith (Space Wars: Quest for the Deepstar), Ciara Hanna (The Call), Kevin Porter (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story), Mayling Ng (Debt Collectors), Cerina Vincent (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy) and Frank’s daughter, Jenna Rae Frank.
🔥 Footnote: Power Rangers franchise regulars Johnny Yong Bosch (Hellfire) and Yoshi Sudarso (Buffalo Boys) were once attached to this project, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts (and other reasons that are unknown). They both appear in early concept teasers and posters.
Legend of the White Dragon will arrive in select theaters on National Power Rangers Day, August 28, 2026 from Well Go USA.
An official trailer is on the way, but for now, check out some official stills, followed by a previously released teaser trailer below:

This, ‘Saint Seya: The Beginning’, ‘Legend of Gatotkaca’ – I’ve had it with all these low budget helmet superhero flicks, and why do they all seem to feature Mark Dacascos, has Wych Kaosayananda gone into retirement of something!?
This one looks different from others, and Aaron Schoenke does great work with just a little money. Anytime someone goes for an “R-rated Power Rangers” vibe, I go for it.
Although I’m sure this one will be short of an R since Jason David Frank didn’t like doing overly mature projects.

I’ve been waiting too long for this one. I’m glad it’s finally seeing the light of day.
Too true, it’s been something else waiting through the idea it might never see the light of day. My only concern is I’m in the UK, I really hope it gets an international release, I’d almost given up hope after 4 years.
