Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest Collection | Blu-ray & 4K UHD (Arrow)

RELEASE DATE: July 17, 2023

Now available from Goodie Emporium is Arrow Video’s (UK) 4K Bruce Lee movie collection, which includes a Brand new 4K restorations of The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon and Game of Death and brand new 2K restoration of Game of Death II + features, all spread across 10 discs.

Official details:

When former child actor and Hollywood TV sidekick Bruce Lee returned to his native Hong Kong in 1971 to star in two films for fledgling company Golden Harvest, movie history was made thanks to one of the most iconic partnerships between star and studio that cinema has ever seen. In only a handful of films, Lee high-kicked his way into audiences’ imaginations forever, thanks to his blistering screen presence and his masterful ‘Jeet Kune Do’ fighting technique.

The first two starring vehicles for Lee, The Big Boss and Fist of Fury (both directed by Lo Wei), smashed all box office records in Hong Kong and made him the most famous face on the continent. Lee asserted his artistic independence by directing, writing and starring in The Way of the Dragon, arguably his most thrilling and personal film. Tragically, on the cusp of achieving the international stardom he had long strived for, Bruce Lee died suddenly in 1973, aged only 32. Not to be outdone by the tidal wave of ‘Bruceploitation’ films that followed, Golden Harvest completed two posthumous films using unreleased footage, 1978’s Game of Death and its 1981 sequel, as well as two official documentaries, the first of which hit cinemas only three months after Lee’s death. Today, five decades since his passing, Bruce Lee continues to be the most beloved and influential martial artist in the world.

This definitive collection, featuring fresh and exclusive 4K restorations by Arrow Video from the best available film materials, hours of brand new bonus features and previously unreleased footage – including the extended Mandarin Cut of The Big Boss, now ten minutes longer than any version ever released on video worldwide, and the never-before-seen ‘log fight’ from the original Game of Death shoot – is the ultimate tribute to Bruce Lee’s enduring legacy and fruitful collaboration with Golden Harvest.

  1. TheBluCorner says:

Hmmm don’t be too sure on “Enter the Dragon” since Warner is doin that themselves… Unless it’s a UK exclusive release i guess.

  2. DoctorFromGallifrey says:

Can’t wait for this!! Instant buy!! Actually Tower of Death (GOD 2) & Game of Death Redux are on the Criterion set. They are on Disc 6 & 7 both remastered

  3. Scott Redd says:

Who gives a crap about Tower of Death?

  4. Ska Martes says:

we’ve all bought these movies at least 5 times over the last 30 years. I’m more interested in a Bruce Li boxet with widescreen and a cleaned up video. You can find all his movies on Youtube so that makes it public domain!

  5. GEORGE BRANNAN says:

well about time. I have the uncut version of The big boss, but no saw to the head scene { pity}. I do hope that Enter the dragon forms part of this collection, but if not I know that WB are scheduled to release this later this year. I also hope for the box set to contain posters and info or the cherry on the cake would be the soundtrack albums { we can hope} either way I will absolutely be purchasing this box set.

    • JJ Bona says:

George, you have the uncut version of The Big Boss? Would love to hear the details on where you obtained this version, unless it was a collector-to-collector rarity. Again, the inclusion of the ‘saw’ scene was more of our wishlist, since the official details have not been revealed.

    • Phil Hachey says:

I don’t know what the deal is with the missing saw in the head scene, I seen it as a kid in the early 70s when it played in theatres here in Canada, it was a great special effect.

  6. GEORGE BRANNAN says:

Me again I notice that there is no mention of Way of the dragon { Unless I missed it} Is there any info re this title and the contents therein

    • JJ Bona says:

George, WAY OF THE DRAGON was mentioned in the article, but please keep in mind, this is all speculation on our part. =) We amended the article to reinforce this.

    • ali yattou says:

the way of the dragon version of the arrow editor will be released in may at the cinema in the usa in a festival so way of the dragon version arrow is ready

    • MIKE BOSWELL says:

you are shying away from the previous question re the uncut Big Boss you allegedly have ?

  7. Dal Spangle says:

Wow! The Log scene has finally surfaced! Where did that come from??

  8. James says:

I know this sounds like a awkward question, but will we get all the special features on the standard blu ray box set as well as the 4k and UHD versions?, because some of the info are quite vague on the comparisons

  9. JC Solbert says:

No mention of Game if Death Redux 2.0. Anyone know if it will be on there?

    • JJ Bona says:

We were wondering about that ourselves. Crossing our fingers Redux will have a release date soon. The more GOD’s, the merrier! =)

    • Dal Spangle says:

And the other question is, ‘Will Game of Death Redux 2.0’ now have ‘the log scene’
      re-inserted?

    • Little Dragon Fan says:

I doubt it. Alan Canvan himself said that his Redux 2.0 was the final word on ‘Game of Death’, however the discovery of the new footage effectively makes his version redundant (or as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say, “obsolete”), so it wouldn’t make sense to include it on this set. My guess would be we’ll need to wait for Arrow to release their set, then he’ll “borrow” the additional log footage from it and we’ll see a Redux 3.0 before the year is out. Just speculation on my part.

      • Dal Spangle says:

…..Still a work in progress no doubt!
I still want to know who was sitting on the footage for all this time? Those screen caps look so sharp and crisp.
l’m now starting to wonder if the Bruce Lee/BobBaker ‘Fist of Fury’ trailer will now finally surface as well?

      • Bruce Jensen says:

Personally, I’d be more interested in seeing a cleaned up/remastered/higher quality version of the complete (what is it, 90 minutes or so?) GOD out-takes/alternate takes. They’re on Youtube & I have them on bootleg DVD but the picture quality’s pretty bad, I’d love to be able to watch them in 4K quality or something close to it. The out-takes from the ’78 GOD (as seen on Bey Logan’s reel east Youtube channel, at least a few seconds) would be awesome, too.
As for Game Of Death Redux 2.0, the idea of another re-edited version of the 40 or so minutes we’ve already seen in good quality has never really peaked my interest; how different can it possibly be from versions we already have?

  10. Darren Ingram says:

Where the hell did they find the long lost log scene footage?

    • Kashif Nasar says:

My guess is that everything in the Golden Harvest vaults has been scoured and scanned in 4K. It’s a wonderful surprise that something thought long lost, has now been found.

It does make you wonder, will the day ever come that we see The Big Boss fully uncut? Surely, if the lost footage hasn’t been found now, it is never going to be.

  11. American Ninja Man says:

I maybe off topic here, but did anyone ever see or hear about Big Boss 2 which was obviously made without Bruce Lee. Such is one I’ve been wanting to find. I got all these on Blu ray, but I still kept my CBS DVD release of the Bruce Lee movies. Just because there is so much charm in seeing these both in the original and the absurd dubbing ones.

  12. Vahan Nisanian says:

Is there Hong Kong press release information that verifies the original print was 115 minutes? If it was, and 10 minutes were found, that means 6 minutes are still missing.

    • Vahan Nisanian says:

I’m talking about “The Big Boss”, of course. And for the record, it’s okay if the Saw in the Head shot won’t be there. It was only in the premiere print, anyways. All the other missing scenes were intact, until at some point much later on.

  13. David Rees says:

This is a major release, especially for the Mandarin uncut version of Big Boss, which I saw at a rare screening in London many years ago. It was all uncut apart from the saw-in-the-head scene but other scenes include Bruce’s visit to the 2nd prostitute and a little more gore.
This was thought lost for many years so will be great to see it again in HD.
I heard that all the found GOD outtake footage including extra outdoor footage of Whang in Sik and Dan Inosanto fighting will be included as an extra but we need to await confirmation.

  14. Diamond Fist says:

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNN…!!!! THOSE NEW IMAGES…!!!! NOW I’M REALLY HYPED!!!!

  15. Hi David Rees, you say you saw Big Boss uncut a longtime ago can you go into more detail? cheers!
The arrow exclusive boxset and the other’s all state limited editions does anyone know what they are saying? what number amount are in each limited edition set?? can’t find it anywhere!!?? cheers!

    • David Rees says:

Lots of extra scenes, won’t go into detail here but you can find info on the net pretty easily, more gore in the James Tien fight when he is killed, Bruce visiting the 2nd prostitute and other bits which everyone will be able to see soon finally!

  16. Roy Landers says:

Well, received my box set yesterday and immediately checked out the two main attractions – Big Boss Mandarin Cut and The Final Game of Death. Mandarin cut is absolutely superb! So many little gems that really flesh the film out and despite not having the Peter Thomas score it will be how I choose to view BB from now on. The Final Game of Death- lets be clear the 2K dailies are worth the price of admission here. The commentary by James Flower is littered with errors and a complete waste of time. I recommend to just watch the dailies as is. The Gane of Death film edit they put together was a major disappointment. Other than the shots looking pristine, the creative choices from the music to the voice dubbing lack any originality and at times sound embarrassingly bad. It’s a shame,as I really had high hopes for it, but in the end the end it makes little difference as the real star of the show here are the glorious full length dailies. I’ll be looking at the new documentaries in the box set next. Fingers crossed.

    • JJ Bona says:

Roy, appreciate the feedback regarding Arrow’s set. Expecting mine to come this week! I’m pretty sure all the pros outweigh the cons. Either way, it’ll be nice to have Bruce Lee films in 4K. =)

  17. EUGENE THOMPSON says:

    Awesome cant wait.

  18. Jeff Tyler says:

Do you sell the Final Game of Death and The Big Boss Mandrian version individually, and if so what’s the address where can I purchase the UHD 4K DVD’s for these 2 movies? Thank you.
