Action starlet (are we even allowed to say that in this day and age?) Charlize Theron has re-confirmed that a sequel to David Leitch’s 2017 action-thriller Atomic Blonde (read our review) is still very high on the priority list.
The original movie – dubbed “the female version of John Wick” – was previously known as The Coldest City, the title of Antony Johnston’s 2012 graphic novel, from which the film was based.
“We’re in the development stages right now, and that’s the one thing that lockdown has been good for — being able to develop with writers over Zoom. So, we’re actively developing [an Atomic Blonde sequel] right now”, Theron told THR in a recent interview while promoting The Old Guard
.
In Atomic Blonde, Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, an undercover MI6 agent who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.
We’ll keep you updated on Atomic Blonde II as we learn more. Stay tuned!
