On September 4, Disney’s live-action Mulan will bypass American theaters and go straight to Disney Plus’s “premiere access” section for the price of $29.99.

The film also features Ron Yuan (Marco Polo), Roger Yuan (Black Dynamite), Tzi Ma (Rush Hour), Chum Ehelepola (Lodge 49), Yoson An (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II), Xana Tang (Matariki) and Rosalind Chao (The Joy Luck Club).

  2. Andrew Hernandez says:

Will this be a musical? I’m laughing at the idea of Donnie Yen singing Be a Man. And I hope the cast uses their real voices.

  3. Andrew Hernandez says:

I have to say I like the trailer. I wish they kept this as a musical, but the production value looks nice, and I’m glad Crystal Yiu is staring in this after The Four Trilogy, Outcast, and White Vengeance were so bad.

    • John Palomo says:

The Four trilogy was awesome and Outcast was too.

      • Andrew Hernandez says:

The Four series seemed more concerned with special effects and an overly complicated story. Outcast could have been cool with Nick Powell at the helm, but that ended up being boring, badly shot and edited

  4. Phil Chan says:

Kinda feels like they’re after the more traditional action movie rather than the musical number the animated Mulan was. Interested to see how this one turns out.

    • Andrew Hernandez says:

Is that what the Vicki Zhao version was supposed to be like. I know some people liked it, but others were disappointed that it wasn’t a “grand epic.”

      • Phil Chan says:

I would guess so, but it’s been a long time since I watched the Vicki Zhao version so my details are a little sketchy there.

  5. Ningen21 says:

Memoirs of a Mulan is more like it.

  6. Aerosniff Someglue says:

Di$ney? Chinese legend? Live adaptation of a Di$ney animated crap (except the beautiful Jerry Goldsmith score of course)? Immediate boycott. Next!

    • Z Ravas says:

Aww, boycotting already? And they haven’t even announced Scott Adkins’ cameo as the gweilo villain.

      • Aerosniff Someglue says:

I couldn’t care less about Scott. Great martial artist, yeah, but ZERO charisma and he’s just a new version of those crappy “actors” from the 80’s VHS days. Seems like a nice guy though… Di$ney is the empire of evil of the entertainment industry, when it will have eat all non US culture, it will eat itself (it has already begun it by doing live movies of their animated “classics”)… Since Frozen 225 can … off, I just bought the new DVD of this Finnish curiosity: The snow queen (Lumkunnigatar, from 1986). You didn’t get my money, Walt.

  7. Shinelight says:

Will be boycotting this garbage. Not for the film but for the views of the lead actress.

    • Sex icon says:

Yes, you not seeing it will make a huge difference !!! Disney is literally on their knees right now

      • SingleTom says:

Yes, sure, let’s do nothing then. Let’s not vote, let’s not speak out, let’s not join any protest. If you see something wrong, look the other way.

        • Aerosniff Someglue says:

I don’t give a f… about anybody, myself included. So no, I don’t vote, I don’t speak out, I don’t have any social life, I don’t join any cause except mine. I couldn’t care less about this f… planet, people, animals and f… flowers included. I just try to wait patiently for death.

    • JJ Bona says:

What’s the views of the lead actress?

  8. Ningen21 says:

Those Asian movies Disney squatted on and Tarantino’ed and Harvey’ed finally came in handy.

  9. Nic says:

Welp. I’m in for Jason Scott Lee. Pearl City’s finest!

  10. Mike Retter says:

Avoid this communist trash. They have apparently removed or diminished a male love interest for political correctness/cultural revolution reasons. This will be woke trash. Only watch if you are planning to remove/augment your genitals.

    • Killer Meteor says:

Communist AND woke? Sounds like fun!

    • Fish out of Water says:

So here’s the dilemma in one point of view its good to take a stand against people who support a terrible regime but on the other end of the spectrum there are some people who invested there time and effort in creating this film who have no political standing on the matter. I know some of the crew who worked on this film and they have dedicated lots of time and effort in creating this, sure they don’t see any of the returns but they would want there work appreciated.

I do find it funny how everyone is like boycott Liu Yifei cos of her political views but no one stood up and said boycott Donnie Yen when he supports the China regime, despite being an American citizen too.

      • Aerosniff Someglue says:

        Nope, Donnie ain’t American.

“Born in Guangzhou, China on July 27, 1963, Yen emigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 11 and gained US citizenship. But he changed his nationality back to Chinese (Hong Kong) in 2009.”

  11. Bruno allen says:

Donnie yen became a traitor to the Hong Kong people when he celebrated on Twitter the illegal take over by Communist China crushing democratic votes ..Agnes Chow is 100 × braver than Donnie she is the real mulan! #boycottdisney
