Fresh off the breakout success of The Furious, Kenji Tanigaki has set his sights on his next directorial effort, The Reckoner, an upcoming actioner written by John Wick and Nobody creator Derek Kolstad.
Headlining The Reckoner is Peter Dinklage (The Boss), best known for his Emmy-winning performance as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones. Plot details for the film are currently being kept under wraps.
Lionsgate closed a deal for The Reckoner, following its acquisition of The Furious out of last year’s TIFF. Anthony and Joe Russo (Extraction, Extraction 2) are on board to produce. A 2026 shoot is a possibility, and Dinklage’s involvement is expected to be a notable draw (via World of Reel).
🔥 Footnote: Peter Dinklage teaming up with Kenji Tanigaki could make for a fascinating combination. If the inventive action sequences in The Furious are any indication, it’s exciting to imagine how Tanigaki (and his team) could build action around Dinklage’s unique physicality. Weng Weng-sploitation, perhaps?
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more. Until then, here’s a look at the damage Dinklage can do in 2016’s The Boss:

Dinklage’s unique physicality??? Why not highlight the fact that he’s an incredible performer first? you guys can be pretty disrespectful sometimes.
I don’t see any disrespect. Most people watch martial arts movies for the physicality of the action scenes, so pointing out how a choreographer like Tanigaki will utilize Dinklage’s dwarfism is only saying what everyone else is thinking. It doesn’t take anything away from his acting talent, but it shouldn’t be a newsflash to say nobody is watching The Furious for Xie Miao’s acting talent.
