Writer/director Joe Cornet, who is known for his output of low budget Western thrillers that include 2018’s A Prayer for the Damned and 2020’s Incident at Guilt Ridge, recently wrapped production on Taken from Rio Bravo, the sequel to the soon-to-be-released Gunfight At Rio Bravo.

Taken from Rio Bravo stars returning leading man Alexander Nevsky (Showdown in Manila, Maximum Impact), as the mysterious Russian gunslinger who, in the first film, aids a marshal (Olivier Gruner) and a sheriff (Joe Cornet) in a standoff with a bloodthirsty outlaw gang known as The Hellhounds.

For Taken from Rio Bravo, the Russian cowboy (Nevsky) is back, and this time he’s up against a group of sadistic human traffickers who plan to market their victims to sex-slave buyers at the Mexican border.

Just like the first film, Gunfight At Rio Bravo, which featured Matthias Hues (No Retreat, No Surender II) and Olivier Gruner (Angel Town), martial arts film fans will welcome the addition of co-stars such as Cynthia Rothrock (Blonde Fury), Don “The Dragon” Wilson (Death Fighter), as well as Hues, reprising his role. Veteran fight choreographer Art Camacho (Seized) is handling the film’s action.

We’ll keep you updated with the release date for both of these films. For now, here’s the Trailer for Gunfight At Rio Bravo:, followed by a behind-the-scenes photo from the sequel, Taken from Rio Bravo (via EFF):

    In other words, fuck us!

    • So ‘Black Creek’ is to these Nevsky flicks what ‘Project S’ was to the ‘Police Story’ franchise. 🙂

      • Andrew Hernandez says:

        Don’t encourage Nevsky!

I accidentally found a very delusional review of Maximum Impact on 411mania, where the reviewer wrote this absolute lie:

“Nevsky is terrific as Maxim Kadurin, the FSB agent that has to figure out how to save the world. His natural screen charisma oozes off the screen, and he shows that he can handle both action and comedy like a seasoned pro. When he isn’t onscreen the movie suddenly becomes less interesting, which is a sure sign that we have a major star on our hands. As I said in my intro, it’s high goddamn time that the major studios take a look at Nevsky because there’s major box office potential there.”

I’m guessing this reviewer was either bribed/threatened to write this review, or something more foul is going on. It’s funny how Nevsky retweets your review instead of his ass kissers’.
