Quentin Tarantino makes Sylvester Stallone an offer he can’t refuse! The two stars to team up for a gangster series

Hollywood giants Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs) and Sylvester Stallone (The Expendables) are reportedly getting together for an upcoming gangster series.

According to TMZ, Tarantino is set to write and co-direct with Sylvester Stallone. Not only that, it will be shot in black and white using 1930s cameras. No plot details have been revealed, but it’s being described as a six-part limited series featuring gangsters, showgirls, boxing, and music (via World of Reel).

The same source adds that Stallone will not be acting on screen, only directing.

It should be noted that the two have been trying to work together for years. Tarantino, a longtime admirer of Stallone, offered the roles of both Lewis Gara in 1997’s Jackie Brown and Stuntman Mike 2007’s Death Proof to Stallone, who supposedly rejected the roles due to creative differences (they were ultimately taken on by Robert De Niro and Kurt Russell, respectively).

Both stars are no strangers to the gangster genre. For Tarantino, it’s obvious with the iconic ’90s flicks, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Stallone’s mob-related projects include playing Frank Nitti in 1975’s Capone, a union leader with mob ties in 1978’s F.I.S.T., the 1991 comedic mobster film Oscar, and the lesser-known 2002 thriller Avenging Angelo. His most notable gangster role is Dwight “The General” Manfredi in the current TV series Tulsa King.

In the late ’70s, when Stallone starred in and wrote 1976’s Rocky – which resulted in three OscarsParamount aimed to ride his success with the idea of him writing, directing, and starring in The Godfather Part III, which never came to fruition until years later with the 1990 film, in which Stallone had no involvement.

We’ll keep you updated with this story as we learn more. For now, we leave you with the Trailer for Avenging Angelo:
