Coming soon from Neon Entertainment is Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, the latest from Japanese cult director Takashi Miike (Blazing Fists, First Love) and writer Daisuke Tengan (13 Assassins, Audition).

A disgraced Tokyo detective (Shun Oguri, Gintama) spirals into a world of corruption, addiction, and violence as he becomes entangled in a twister investigation involving a vengeful ex-Yakuza, an enigmatic FBI agent, and a missing daughter of a powerful American family.

Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo also stars Lily James (Cliffhanger), Liv Morgan (The Kill Room), Shotaro Mamiya (Ignite), Jun Kunimura (The Roundup: No Way Out) and Hiroshi Tachi (A Family).

🔥 Footnote: This U.S./Japan co-production is the third of three films loosely connected by the Bad Lieutenant name and theme. Abel Ferrara’s 1992 original stars Harvey Keitel as a corrupt, drug-addicted NYPD officer, while Werner Herzog’s 2009 Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans features Nicolas Cage as a crooked detective in post-Katrina New Orleans. None of the films are traditional sequels, but they all offer dark, unpredictable portraits of cops doing very bad things.
