On June 29, 2026, Arrow will be releasing a 10-Disc Limited 4K Ultra HD set for Jackie Chan’s Breakout Hits!, which includes 1994’s Drunken Master II, 1995’s Thunderbolt, 1996’s Police Story 4: First Strike, 1997’s Mr. Nice Guy and 1998’s Who Am I? – ALL of which include multiple cuts!
Note: If you’re a fan of Jackie’s black muscle shirt look, there’s also an Arrow store-exclusive version available. That said, we actually prefer this one. Aside from the cardboard O-ring sleeve, it’s exactly the same set – right down to the reversible inner sleeves.
He was the biggest movie star in the East for two decades, but Hong Kong action legend Jackie Chan had never successfully cracked the West… until the 1990s kicked off a six-film run of phenomenal smash hits that would finally make him an international household name, instantly synonymous with the most jaw-dropping and death-defying stunts ever put on screen!
1994’s Drunken Master II sees Jackie back as Wong Fei-hung, the role that first made his name, and teaming up with Shaw Brothers legends Lau Kar-leung and Ti Lung to deliver the ultimate, era-defining love letter to classic kung fu.
The following year saw Jackie’s first number one box office success in America thanks to Rumble in the Bronx, in which he visits New York City and must defend his friends and family against vicious street gangs and ruthless smugglers, followed by Thunderbolt in which Jackie is forced to compete behind the wheel against a criminal street racer who has kidnapped his sister.
In the fourth entry of the much-beloved Police Story series (also known as First Strike), Jackie chases a stolen nuclear warhead on an explosive globe-trotting secret mission; Chan’s “big brother” Sammo Hung takes the director’s chair in Mr. Nice Guy as Jackie plays a TV chef in Australia forced to do bloody battle against the mob; and finally in Who Am I?, our hero is an ass-kicking amnesiac on the trail of a mysterious new power source as well as his own lost identity.
Finally together and restored in 4K for the first time, this collection of unparalleled martial arts madness chronicles Jackie Chan’s crossover to worldwide superstardom (just before Rush Hour made him a bonafide Hollywood icon), in which no bone in his body is left unbroken in his quest to leave you entertained!

What region? Anyway, about time for Bronx.
4K blu-rays are region free
Fuck! They want me to go broke!
It’s great news that we’re finally getting the versions that many westerners haven’t seen. But I guess I have to buy an 4K player now even though I’ve been avoiding it!
Nice set! Although these weren’t the titles I was expecting from a collection called ‘Breakout Hits!’.
Probably referring to finally making it in America with the New Line trilogy of re-edits: Rumble, First Strike and Mr Nice Guy.
Although these movies show a gradual decline from peak era Chan (DM2 aside), theres still loads to love here. Is been a pain the ass to collect these in their original form since the VCD days. I can finally get rid of my following copies
Drunken Master 2 – shitty dub with shitty Miramax rapestein soundtrack and barely ok barebones Warners Archive release which looks like a DVD upscale
RITB – New Line edit and dub and fanedit bluray which syncs the cantonese track to the new line edit
Thunderbolt – German bootleg of a DVD upscale
First Strike – New Line edit and German bootleg of HK release
Mr Nice Guy – very barebones Warners Archive bluray
Who Am I – cropped 1.85 ratio shorter edit DVD and german bootleg whcih uses the Japanese itunes version as a source for the original HK cut in proper aspect ratio
its actually really commendable that Arrow went straight to 4k instead of teasing us and naking us double dip with the bluray first then releasing the 4k 18 months later like 88 films
Totally agree. I am sick and tired of being ripped off by certain Blu-ray distributors that release a 2K version first, then not long afterwards release a 4K version with more added extras. The amount of times I have bought 2K copies, then purchase an 4K release by the same distributor. Enough is enough… stop ripping us fans / consumers off. Release the best version I.e 4K with a 2K Disc. Also stop increasing your 4K prices tenfold. There is no justification in your price hiking.
Also can we see the best 4K / 2K releases of the following –
*Pedicab Driver
*Spooky Spooky (aka Spooky Encounters 2)
*Ninja In The Dragons Den
*Outlaw Brothers
*Legend of A Fighter
*The Victim
*Tai Chi Master
*Red Wolf
*The Angry Ranger
*License To Steal
*The Death Games
*Night Life Hero
*Panty Hose Hero
*Wing Chun
*The Green Hornet
*Secret Rivals 1&2
*Too Many Ways to be No. 1
*The Mission
Thanks
SM
It’s a shame that Shaolin Soccer won’t get an anniversary release this year.
Still early to rule it out. But hopefully in the next few months.
Too Many Ways to be No. 1 ❤️
I’d love to see that wishlist get announced
Thank you for this awesome news, pre-ordered it few hours ago. Despite some of the titles are not exactly breakout roles for Jackie, the new restoration is worth the price, not to mention the bonus features. Looking forward to June, when I could re-watch these movies in 4k!
Man, only 4K. Why isn’t Arrow doing a bluray version?
Holy crap!! Time to start saving.
I met Jackie and Sammo on the set of MR. NICE GUY through the JC Fan Club, and it’s still one of the greatest days of my life. Especially when, at dinner after the day’s shooting, Jackie told us all the plot for his next film, which was WHO AM I? He was super-excited about he concept.
That’s pretty amazing, the closest I ever came to an experience like that was getting Jackie to sign my copy of his first bio in 1998 the week Rush Hour came out (I was one out of a few hundred fans who lined up at a store in San Francisco to get autographed copies of that book). Speaking of Who Am I, one thing I’m slightly disappointed not to see included on this upcoming 4K edition is the hours of footage that apparently ended up on the cutting room floor, I remember reading about it in one of the fanzines from the late 90s. I am glad we’ll be getting the making of stuff, though, in my opinion it was at least as interesting, if not more, than the movie itself.
Yes. But what is it going to cost? I mean, it’s so rare for these films to be released in 4K. It’s almost criminal not to buy.
It’s around 165 euros. Normally, I would immediately dismiss this, but due to the current climate of owning physical media, I will do my best to get this.
“Although these movies show a gradual decline from peak era Chan (DM2 aside)”
Yes, yes and yes!!!!
Put out a … Blu-Ray box too, or at least a 4KUHD/BD Limited Deluxe Edition for Drunken master II, because the other movies are not that good (the HK cut of First strike is, believe it or not, too long, and the cut version is BETTER but far from a masterpiece!!!; Thunderbolt is a BAD movie with ridiculous racing scenes, not saved by a fabulous…two minutes fight scene; Who am I? is very generic (the beginning, pleaaaaase…, the awesome threesome fight scene and the “running down the building” part don’t save it from being a poor James Bond wannabe; Mr. Nice guy is a piece of … (can’t remember if the great and funny fight scene in the market is in there or in The poor The accidental spy…Tony Jaa loved it anyway); finally Rumble in the Bronx is spectacular but the Hong Kong edit does’t transform it into a classic, oh no (too unfunny characters straight out of Hark and Li’s The master!)…
So, for me: on Blu-Ray box (at worst) or one Limited Deluxe Edition of Drunken master II or nothing.
I have enough of those delirious prices for MOVIES I ALREADY KNOW!!!!
Have a nice week eryone.
They won’t ship to Canada. Well that sucks.
So glad this is a thing as I missed out on Thunderbolt and Drunken Master 2 when they first came out on blu-ray here in the UK.
Anyway, in case anyone else in home video reads this, these are the holdouts: Hero, Shaolin Soccer, Grandmaster, SPL with the original title, Ong Bak with the original music and the Spielberg mention, and a 4k Kung Fu Hustle.
Oh, and God of Cookery and Rob-B-Hood.
