
Bai Ying, a veteran Hong Kong and Taiwanese actor known for his unforgettable roles in wuxia films, has passed away at the age of 84.
Born in Beijing and raised in Taiwan, Bai began his acting career in the 1960s with Union Film Company, breaking out with his role in King Hu’s Dragon Inn (1968).
He went on to become a familiar face in Asian cinema, appearing in classics like A Touch of Zen, The Fate of Lee Khan, The Valiant Ones, Lady Whirlwind, and Royal Warriors. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Bai appeared in over 100 films, taking on everything from martial arts villains to modern crime roles.
He also earned a Golden Horse Award for his performance in Super Dragon (1977) and remained a respected presence in Hong Kong and Taiwanese film until his passing.
