I’ll have to go with The Godfather. It’s the only film that’s epic, bloody, violent and just an overall classic that you can watch over and over again. Great dialogue. Great cast. Lavish. Awesome. Even the music is legendary.
Runners up: Year of the Dragon, Godfather 2, Star Wars: A New Hope, Once Upon A Time in America, Superman (1978), Conan (1982), Once Upon A Time in the West, and The Deer Hunter.

nice to see that someone else like that movie as well.. Very good noir film. I would say it’s also a good companion film to The Yakuza if you ever want to do a double bill movie night!
Yep. It has been awhile since i’ve seen Yakuza… definitely have to check it out again. But yeah, YOTD is very underrated. As the years pass, it becomes more and more popular.
I would say that my favorite movie ever would be Star Wars: A New Hope. It just took that genre to a new height, and its many imitators haven’t come close to its quality. It’s also a nice homage to filmmakers like Akira Kurosawa and others.
My favorite film would be the Godfather, one reason is for the amazing story but the film gives you a little of everything. Also, I would have to throw in Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, The sword of doom, Braveheart, and last but not least…Dumb and Dumber!
my favorite movie of all time is Jason and the Argonauts. its an old school classic Ray harryhausen film. the special effects were well done for a movie that came out in the 60s. the fight at the end with the skeletons was awesome.
My favorite movie is Zatoichi (2003) starring Takeshi Kitano. I love samurai films since I was little, the first time I saw the Zatoichi series starring Shintaro Katsu I fell in love with these movies. When Kitano made his version I was really impressed. He’s a great director and actor. I wish there was more movies like this. It has a little bit of everything but the action is amazing. Other movies I like: Kurosawa films, Old Jackie Chan films, Oldboy (Korea), Long Wolf & Cub series, Bruce Lee Movies, Ip Man 1 & 2, Fearless (Jet Li), Ong Bak, Tom Yum Goong, Sha Po Lang, Flash Point, Wu Xia.

based movies that unfolds. beautifully. its. just. epic. but i also love once upon a time in China as well
man do I know I am going to get slammed for this but for my pick it has to be Revenge of the Ninja starring Sho Kosugi. yes I know it is not a cinematic triumph but it is totally nostalgic for me. I was six when I saw this back in 1989. I was obsessed with ninjas from toys, video games and movies. I did not know who Sho kosugi was at the time but I I knew I liked his movies. It’s a campy corny action flick now but then it was cool as anything else. Plus the VHS box cover was epic!! Films like this eventually led me to Better films with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and the Shaw Bros but this is where it started and then which led me to actually learning martial arts.

Very difficult to narrow down a specific movie as a favorite since I have so many to pick from. My most recent pick would be an classic from Satyajit Ray titled The Music Room. There is no violence, no bloodshed, no explosions, no sex. Boring, you say. I disagree. Just good story telling about a dying breed of landowners whose ostentatious spending in the face of changing mores and social norms lead to tragic consequences.
My favorite movie is Citizen Kane. I love the story and the camera tricks and all the hidden facets. The fact that Orson Welles was able to accomplish so much at an early age yet was never able to have that kind of control over a major studio picture again is tragic.
Gladiator with Russell Crowe, it was well made, good story and good fight scenes, it shouldn’t be a surprise it won a lot of awards.
Oh boy…ummm, I guess…The Dark Knight. To me, it’s the perfect film. You have a fully alive Gotham City, itself a very important character in the film. The Joker is a perfect representation of evil. He’s scary, chaotic and mysterious. The hero is truly heroic. The score is wonderful. Every scene has something going on.
Runner ups: Serenity (the blueprint for how to make a good film), LOTR: FOTR, Star Wars ANH, Spider-Man 2, The Blues Brothers…sooo many favorites…
Hmmmmm. This is a tough one to narrow down. But to help, I choose the movie I’ve watched the most over the years. And that would be the original RobCop. Not that steaming pile of crap remake. Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop is a classic.
I would have to say Red Cliff. I love the Three Kingdoms saga, I think I watched part 1 for a couple months straight everyday until I got part 2. Runner up would be Jet Li’s Fearless(the extended version), this film really got me in to Martial Arts and Asian cinema.
Not sure if this is my favorite; but it is the film that changed my life. Five Fingers of Death was my first martial arts film. Followed by Enter the Dragon. Ever since I can not get enough of this genre.
Favorite film is ‘Once Upon a Time in China’ … grew up with martial art and Bruce Lee films. The only film and inspired hero was Wong Fei Hung. The first film in the series was an eye catcher… couldn’t turn it off once played. Can’t wait to get the blu-ray version of it. When the 2nd film comes out with Donnie Yen in it, it was perfect. Jet Li vs. Donnie Yen!!!
My favourite film of all time is “Blade Runner”. It is probably one of the greatest influences for me as a filmmaker, and I really learn something new (or want to steal techniques/ideas) every time I watch it. I love the look and texture, genre-blending and quintessential sci-fi themes. It’s also amazing how the film was appreciated YEARS after its release. I could go on and on (and on) about the film…
Empire Strikes Back. Being one of the greatest sequels of all time, it raised the bar for story telling, character development, darker atmosphere, special effects and action. Its a movie I can watch over and over again.
I would have to say Memento. I love everything by Christopher Nolan, and that was the first movie of his I saw. It is very original and made you think

Classic film with the best one on one fight scene. It still holds up.
