Kim Jee-Woon, the acclaimed director of I Saw the Devil and Age of Shadows, is currently prepping The Hole, an upcoming thriller from Amazon MGM’s Orion label, that’s currently in post-production.

The scene stealing star of Hope, Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), aka Hoyeon, is part of the film’s ensemble, international cast that includes Theo James (Divergent), Christian Slater (El Gringo, True Romance), Kat Foster (Fear the Night), Yeom Hye-ran (Wall to Wall) and Kevin Dockry (Ashfall).

The Hole follows a successful American professor and writer (James) living abroad in South Korea. Bedridden after a devastating car accident that killed his wife, he is left under the care of his Korean mother-in-law, who starts to unravel the truth behind their marriage (via Variety).

Based on the novel of the same name by Hye-young Pyun, The Hole is is adapted for the screen by Christopher Chen (Spider-Noir) and Kim Jee-woon.

🔥 Footnote: Before becoming one of South Korea’s most recognizable international stars, Jung Ho-yeon was already a major name in the fashion world. She began her career as a model before making her acting debut in Squid Game, where her breakout performance as Kang Sae Byeok turned her into a global sensation. Her current big screen debut in Na Hong-jin’s Hope is definitely going to advance her film career even further.
