Independent filmmaker Ara Paiaya (Instant Death), best known for his cult kung fu action series Dubbed & Dangerous, has just released a newly digitally remastered and restored version of his 2006 martial arts film, Death List.
Death List was made in the spirit of the classic “cut and paste ninja” films popularized by Godfrey Ho (Manhattan Chase, Ninja Destroyer). It blends newly shot footage with scenes repurposed from several of Ara Paiaya’s earlier productions, including Confidential (1998), Dubbed and Dangerous (2001), Dubbed and Dangerous III (2004) and Night Driver (2005).
Death List also serves as the final on-screen appearance of legendary Hong Kong stuntman and ninja cinema icon Robert Tai. Additionally, it features cameo appearances from renowned Hong Kong cinema experts Bey Logan (Shadowguard) and Toby Russell (Death Fighter), alongside numerous visual nods and references to classic martial arts films.
🔥 Footnote: Ara Paiaya has built a reputation for his hands-on stunt work and his unapologetically old school approach to martial arts filmmaking, heavily influenced by the energy and style of classic Hong Kong action cinema. Beyond starring in his films, Paiaya often takes on multiple roles behind the camera, serving as writer, producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and action choreographer.
Death List is now available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, and Germany.
