Don’t call it a comeback! Armie Hammer makes his return in Uwe Boll’s actioner ‘Citizen Vigilante’ arriving later this year

Cult director Uwe Boll (In the Name of the King) teams up with former A-lister Armie Hammer (The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Lone Ranger) for Citizen Vigilante, an upcoming actioner that will be released by U.S. label Quiver later this year.

The film follows a man (Hammer) who takes justice into his own hands, hunting down criminals. His vigilante crusade makes him a social media star but puts him at odds with the local police chief.

Citizen Vigilante also stars Costas Mandylor (Saw franchise), Jenny Paris (Order of the Dragon), Benjamin Schnau (A Working Man) and features fight choreography by martial arts sensation Mike Möller, who is perhaps best known for 2014’s One Million K(l)icks and 2017’s Ultimate Justice.

Uwe Boll has some duds in his filmography (he’s far from being “the worst director of all time”), but if you’ve seen any of the Rampage films – or even Assault on Wall Street – he has proven himself to be a competent filmmaker.

Originally titled The Dark Knight – a name later dropped after the director received a cease-and-desist letter from Warner – Citizen Vigilante is being positioned as one of Armie Hammer’s comeback projects, after the actor was blacklisted from Hollywood following a series of sexual abuse allegations.

In addition Citizen Vigilante, Boll is also working on 23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island, the official sequel to his 2003 thriller, House of the Dead. The project was launched on Indiegogo, promising to bring the cult legacy forward without compromising on the original’s outrageous, high-energy tone.

Citizen Vigilante hits theaters and on demand this summer from Quiver.

Until then, check out other images, alternative poster and some stills from the production, plus an animated Teaser:

Uwe Boll’s new YouTube channel is quite entertaining. Especially when he unloads on crappy new movies.

  2. ToryK says:

Yeah, this isn’t gonna end the way either guy wants it to. Sorry, Uwe. I see you up there. But no.

  3. Makaveli says:

Is this a movie about cannibalism?

    • CJ says:

If you watch the doc series about his f*ked-up family you can see why he came out of it a little bit ‘off’.

His mother is also an insane religious zealot. There’s an amazing video of him interviewing her which may be the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever seen.
