7/4/25 | The Avenging Eagle
Sun Chung (Human Lanterns) isn’t as well known as fellow Shaw Brothers kung-fu directors Chang Cheh (One-Armed Swordsman) and Liu Chia-Liang (36th Chamber of Shaolin), but his films are equal to their best. In some ways, he combines the styles of the two directors, with Liu’s mature sense of pacing and Chang’s love of bloodshed and exotic weaponry. Sun also injects a little experimentation into the film, using still-shots and slow-motion to accentuate the action.
Just as good as the Venoms’s best, Avenging Eagle proves that the Shaw Brothers were still at the top of their game, even toward the end of their movie-making empire. With its charismatic leading actors, witty rapport, hateful villains, and out-of-this-world weaponry, this one is a definite source of delight for the old-school kung-fu fan. | Read our full review.

7/4/25 | A Fist Within Four Walls (Season 1/Episode 20)
Looking for more action that revolves around the infamous Kowloon Walled City? Before 2024’s Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, there was the 2016 TVB series, A Fist Within Four Walls.
Chor Au-Kuen (Ruco Chan) bears the grief of the loss of his family and returns to the walled city in hopes of finding his long lost sister, only to find out that the place he grew up in has become a lawless no man’s land…
A Fist Within Four Walls also stars Nancy Wu (Men on the Dragon), Benjamin Yuen (Infernal Affairs), Yuen Qiu (Kung Fu Hustle) and Philip Ng (Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In).
7/11/25 | The Kid with the Golden Arm
One of the few movies to feature all six of the Venoms, The Kid with the Golden Arm gets started with an action scene and doesn’t stop until the end. The violence level is pleasantly high. Blood erupts from sword gashes, people get hacked apart, and those beaten by fists bleed profusely from the mouth. At one point, an assailant who hides behind a panel is stabbed, and blood shoots across the screen. One of the main chiefs suffers a grisly fate, landing on an upturned spear. This is certainly one of the more violent Venoms movies. | Read our full review.

7/11/25 | A Fist Within Four Walls (Season 1/Episode 21)
The continuing saga of the 2016 TVB series, A Fist Within Four Walls that stars Ruco Chan (The Righteous Fists), Nancy Wu (Men on the Dragon), Benjamin Yuen (Infernal Affairs), Yuen Qiu (Kung Fu Hustle) and Philip Ng (Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In).
7/18/25 | Striking Rescue (Hi-YAH! Exclusive)
Striking Rescue is an overall an entertainingly straightforward throwback to the kind of hard-hitting Thai action that we all found ourselves so captivated by 20 years ago. At one-point Jaa instructs Duo Yi to jump from the first floor to the ground below, to which she replies, “I cannot. I’m not Tony Jaa!” It may be a face palm attempt at humor, but its also reflective of the impact he left on audiences, an impact that Striking Rescue offers a more than welcome reminder of. | Read our full review.

7/18/25 | A Fist Within Four Walls (Season 1/Episode 22)
The continuing saga of the 2016 TVB series, A Fist Within Four Walls that stars Ruco Chan (The Righteous Fists), Nancy Wu (Men on the Dragon), Benjamin Yuen (Infernal Affairs), Yuen Qiu (Kung Fu Hustle) and Philip Ng (Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In).
7/25/25 | Seo Bok: Project Clone
For those willing to look past its sci-fi exterior, Seobok offers a thought provoking and decidedly dark take on the buddy movie, where the burden of both mortality and immortality weighs heavily on our protagonists’ shoulders.
Also… Seobok contains one of the most gratuitously entertaining kills involving a wheelchair committed to film. | Read our full review.
