Timo Tjahjanto (The Big 4), one half of the directing duo known as the “Mo Brothers” (Killers, Headshot, Macabre), has been in discussions with martial arts stars Joe Taslim (The Furious, The Raid) and Andrew Koji (Warrior, Street Fighter) for an untitled buddy film that has been on the filmmaker’s bucket list for some time.
Considering Timo’s track record with martial arts-heavy Indonesian films like 2018’s The Night Comes for Us and 2024’s The Shadow Strays, along with his newfound mainstream Hollywood momentum from 2025’s Nobody 2 and the upcoming The Beekeeper 2, the chances of this long awaited project becoming a reality look pretty good.
Joe Taslim made a name for himself in the 2011 Indonesian hit The Raid, before going on to appear in Fast & Furious 6 and play Sub Zero in the Mortal Kombat franchise. A former competitive judoka with a background in taekwondo, wushu, boxing, and pencak silat, Taslim brings plenty of real martial arts experience to his roles.
Andrew Koji gained a following as the lead in Warrior (which Taslim co-starred in) the martial arts series based on an original concept by Bruce Lee. Since then, he’s appeared in Snake Eyes, Bullet Train, and the newly released Street Fighter. With a martial arts background and a knack for convincing fight scenes, Koji has become a familiar face to the action genre.
🔥 Footnote: Not that it’s particularly important, but we can’t think of a Hollywood buddy “action” picture that’s featured two Asian leads. Of course, that’s assuming this project ends up being a Hollywood production. Either way, that alone would make it stand out among popular franchises like Lethal Weapon, 48 Hrs., and Rush Hour.

It’s about time we got one! Joe Taslim and Andrew Koji have the credentials to make this a genuinely exciting prospect. Hopefully, it comes together! I might go see SF but it’s not looking good from what I heard!
