Godzilla Minus Zero, the highly-anticipated follow-up to Toho’s 2023 mega hit Godzilla Minus One, hits theaters in November.
Returning to the director’s chair, Takashi Yamazaki (The Fighter Pilot, Godzilla Minus One) once again takes on writing duties and VFX work, just as he did with the first film.
Following the devastation of Godzilla’s initial rampage, Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) tries to rebuild a quiet life with Noriko (Minami Hamabe) and young Akiko, hoping to leave behind the trauma of war and monsters, but peace proves fleeting when Godzilla returns, fully regenerated, larger, and more ferocious, as a second ancient force awakens beneath Aokigahara near Mount Fuji. With Japan once again on the brink, Kōichi is forced out of retirement, reuniting with old comrades and joining U.S. and Japan alliance forces to face two kaiju threats at once, all while Noriko’s mysterious cellular link to Godzilla intensifies, drawing her ever closer to the creature’s destructive fury and raising the stakes of the battle to a deeply personal level.
This follow-up to Godzilla Minus One should come as no surprise, given Godzilla Minus One was this incredible success in late 2023 — earning $55M domestically and a worldwide total of just over $115M. The film was made on a paltry $15M budget with a combination of practical effects and CGI (via World of Reel).
Toho is releasing Godzilla Minus One in time for Godzilla Day on November 3 in theaters and IMAX, with GKIDS launching a wide theatrical release across North America beginning Friday, November 6 (via FCS).

New York?
I guess it’s a way for Toho and Yamakazi to go to the US.
Sad if that’s the case, but not surprising (Yamakazi is already making a US movie).
“and joining U.S. and Japan alliance forces to face two kaiju threats at once”
No. No…
One of the next “Japanese” Godzilla: “Japanese” Godzilla with/against US “Godzilla”. Wanna bet?
Shin Godzilla 2, please!!!!
That scenario already happened in Final Wars.
ah Final Wars, back when Ryuhei Kitamura’s films were still fun, how nostalgic…
