On March 26, 2024, Well Go USA will be releasing the Blu-ray for Polar Rescue (read our review), a snow-filled thriller from director Law Chi Leung (The Bullet Vanishes) and martial arts superstar Donnie Yen (Raging Fire, Ip Man 4: The Finale, Big Brother).

The upcoming film also stars stars Cecilia Han (The Golden Doll) and Jia Bing (The Eleventh Chapter)

Comeback Home is being described as “a father-and-son rescue drama.” Probably not the plot description you’ve been hoping for, especially given that it’s a film headlined by one of Asia’s top action stars.

Judging from what we’ve seen in the trailer, Comeback Home has elements of drama, suspense, a bit of action, and even dips into the disaster film genre. Those expecting Yen to kick some unlimited ass should probably keep their hopes at bay, as its physical action is not only kept to a minimum, but is also realistic and grounded.

donnie continues to lose warmth with these bullshits instead of making a good following for SPL or Flashpoint. meanwhile, he ages and makes disappointing films

    • Kevin tran says:

I guess you didn’t see Ragging Fire.

      • YM says:

Raging Fire is kinda a disappointment in a lot of ways. But I watched it again on HIYA and this time I’ve come to appreciate what Benny Chan and Yen did: make another Hong Kong action movie, set in Hong Kong, with all the genre trappings. That’s a gift these days. The fights aren’t as good as they use to be but you can tell Yen worked hard to make this a follow up to SPL and Flashpoint.

  2. Gagalagaille says:

He’ll be soon 60. Good choice I think (well I haven’t seen the movie of course but that’s the path he should chose for the rest of his carreer).

  3. YM says:

I don’t think this will feature the kind of action we associate with Yen, but that’s ok. The man has nothing left to prove. I’m sure he’ll deliver the goods in John Wick 4, where he seems to have more than a cameo.

  4. Kevin tran says:

Some people rave about how great Ragging Fire is and some people don’t like it. All I can say is enjoy it while it lasts. Donnie Yen is the last actor in Hong Kong that do this kind of film. He approaching 60 and rich, and therefore, he doesn’t need to put his life on the line anymore. He only did basic punch and kicks in Ragging Fire. All the throwing and falling stuffs were mostly stunt double. The overall quality of the film is top notch whether you like the film or not. We lucky if we can get one of this a year. Hell, a movie like Ragging Fire we lucky if we can get one every few years. There are far many worsts films than this if don’t think this one is good.

“Donnie Yen is the last actor in Hong Kong that do this kind of film.”

There’s a chance someone else may come along. When Bruce Lee died, they said there would never be another. Then we got Bruce Le, Dragon Li, Dragon Lee and Bruce Lai. Think positive 😉

  5. Kevin tran says:

Doesn’t look like any Kung fu will be in this movie. Looks like Donnie is going in the same route as Jackie Chan. Less Kung fu and more focused on the drama and acting as he aged. Understandably so. It is not just doing the Kung fu on film that kills the aging body but the constant training that also kills the aging body. It is impossible to train hard with aging because the body doesn’t recover like it used to be, If you think Ragging Fire is crap, I guess this one is not for you. Don’t expect any Kung fu in this movie.

  6. Laurie Graham says:

Because I have only just discovered Donnie Yen, I have realized that, like Jack Reacher, he has to stop fighting sometime. I find him appealing when he is not fighting, doing comedy or romance. I just dont want to see him relegated to cameo or supporting roles, or special appearances.

  7. Kevin Tran says:

This movie is a total bomb in China. So far it does worse than Iceman 1 and 2.

  8. DoctorFromGallifrey says:

Love Donnie Yen. Hope this film gets released in my area of the US or WellGo gets the 4k/Blu Ray & Streaming right so we can catch it on HiYAH before the disc release. Also I LOVED Raging Fire. That final fight was brutal & spectacular but the film as a whole was amazing. Looking forward to John Wick 4. Here’s hoping Donnie has a few good HK style action films left as his on screen martial arts sunsets into a traditional acting career. We been so lucky to have Bruce & Jackie & Jet & Donnie what a freaking epic run so much love & respect for these guys that brought us so much entertainment over the decades!

  9. Ron Raymundo says:

This is Donnie Yen’s “Daylight”. Sly did Daylight back in ’96 to flex his acting while still being physical. I still hope Donnie punches someone in the movie

  10. Ska Martes says:

I’m all for this as long as it doesn’t descend into an ad for China’s top rescue team who sacfriced their lives for the great nation of the middle Kingdom

  11. Typo says:

I’m all for this as long as it doesn’t descend into an ad for China’s top rescue team who sacfriced their lives for the great nation of the middle Kingdom

Or all those American movies with firemen.

  12. Ska Martes says:

They not fooling anyone with the title change….Come Back Home still sucks literal ass

  13. Andrew Hernandez says:

Donnie Yen should have listened to what George Carlin said in “It’s Bad For Ya.”

“You take the kid and you put him out on the street corner, and you leave him there. You come back a week later. If the kid is still there, you’ve got yourself a stupid fucking kid. Then you just proceed from that point.”

Then we wouldn’t have this yellow snow of a movie.
