Even though dude was hated in some parts of the community, there’s no denying that if it wasn’t for Raymond Chow, Bruce Lee’s popularity would’ve not been as big as it is today. And without Bruce, there might not have been a Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Ninja Turtles (1990) and Sammo Hung.

No doubt Chow is responsible for unleashing magic and his influence will be forever felt. But part of me wants to hear the crazy stories about him that have been withheld while he was alive. At his age, what a solid, gifted life. It’s funny how most people say Chow “discovered” Jackie Chan. He definitely deserves part credit for getting his name out to a broader audience, but let’s not forget that JC was becoming his own before Chow even recruited him. It was Ng See-yuen/Yuen Woo-ping/Seasonal Films that really knew how to market him to his full potential. To a lesser extent, Lo Wei gave his career that initial boost as well. By all means, I’m not an expert in Hong Kong film history – nor was I there around that time – I’m just going off documented info that’s already out there.
