On July 30, 20254, Imprint is releasing the Blu-ray (Region B) for 1972’s The 14 Amazons. A classic Shaw Brothers wuxia film, director Cheng Kang (The Sword of Swords) serves up a bloodsoaked, wartorn spectacle of fourteen vengeful women fighting for what is theirs.
The Yang family, men and women, have served their country loyally for generations. During the war, their last male heir, General Yang, is ambushed and killed. His widow and a large number of courageous women set out to avenge his death and defend the country.
Inspired by the ancient Chinese folklore tales The Generals of the Yang Family, this martial arts historical epic was the winner of Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Sound Effects at the 1973 Golden Horse Awards.
