Legendary Hong Kong filmmaker and action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping (In the Line of Duty 4, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II) will soon unchain Blades of the Guardians, a live-action adaptation of the Chinese comic book of the same name.
This wuxia actioner is headlined by Wu Jing (Wolf Warrior 2) and Nicolas Tse (Customs Frontline) with an all-star supporting cast that includes Yu Rongguang (New Police Story), Tony Leung Ka-fai (The Shadow’s Edge), Max Zhang (Wolf Pack), Kara Hui (Sakra) and – last, but not least – Jet Li (League of Gods), in his first film appearance since 2020’s Mulan.
The story takes place in 607 AD, when people live under the rule of the harsh Emperor Yang Guang. A highly skilled guard is traveling across a desert while being chased by the emperor’s soldiers. Along the way, he takes a job to protect someone on a journey to the great city of Chang’an. He thinks it will be easy, but new dangers rise up, and he soon uncovers a shocking secret.
Mandarin Motion Pictures and Well Go USA are releasing the film for U.S. audiences on February 17. Check your local listings for more information.

You mean wolf warrior 3? Wolf warrior 1 and 2 were directed by Wu Jing.
Hey Kevin =) Not sure exactly what you mean. I state that Yuen Woo Ping is directing BOTG. Wu Jing is only starring. But maybe I’m missing something?
This is great news about Jet Li coming back. We all knew he wouldn’t be around forever, but we wanted to see him “ride off into the sunset” so to speak.
I wished that he (and Jackie Chan for that matter) started doing the kind of action thrillers Liam Neeson does. That way, they could perform the kind of satisfying action that doesn’t require them to over exert themselves or need massive doubles. It would have been a great opportunity to equally show them acting more as well.
Jet did his ride off into the sunset movie 15 years ago with Oceans Heaven. Everything post 2010 is a Jet Li lookalike
“Legendary Hong Kong filmmaker and action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping”
Better action choregrapher than filmmaker.
And his choregraphies have become boring (bring back Sammo for Ip Man 5!!!!).
Yuen Woo-Ping has made some serious kung-fu classic films—such as the original Drunken Master, Snake In The Eagle’s Shadow, Dreadnaught, Magnificent Butcher, Iron Monkey, and many others. So, he’s definitely more than proved he’s a good director. His name on a kung fu movie usually means it’s worth watching most of the time.
Bring Back Jet Li!!!! for a few more movies. I think Jet Li would GREAT for the Remake of the Mr. Moto American movies. Jet be perfect for Mr. Moto!
Looks like it’s Jet’s birthday. http://youtube.com/post/UgkxiZOdkyOhgV3WNSr7bseahb6ASvlrjdQC?si=FZeAu5_16hxB2ocX

It’s been a while since I’ve watched a good Hong Kong film, hope this one can bring back the old era of HK film industry.
Hopefully it’s not more wire-fu ..Yuen Woo Ping is the godfather of wire-fu. It’s time for other HK directors to cut the apron strings from their wire-fu godfatherand followed the path of American action films with realistic action in a realistic setting now. All these wire-fu films r absolute crap .
Wire-fu hasn’t been the order of the day for quite some time now, so the market isn’t over saturated with new wire films.
The Wong Fei-Hung series, Iron Monkey, Butterfly and Sword, Duel to the Death, Wing Chun, Tai Chi Master, The Fong Sai Yuk series and a ton of others were all staples of the wire-fu sub genre, and they delivered the goods.
Modern films that especially deal with fantasy elements should be using more wire-fu and less CGI.
You got to give HK movies a chance. John Wick hadn’t invented the action genre yet when these movies were made so they didn’t know what they were doing. As for American action masterpieces I agree there’s a review almost every week on a new genre classics, this truly is the golden age for action cinema.
I’ll take the John Wick series over any HK action movie ever made and its not even close.
Keep whining about it, loser.
John Wick?
John Wick? That moronic piece of crap?
Oh, you mean the South Korean movies like The man from nowhere or a masterpiece like A bitterswest life that the … behind Wick have stol…sorry, paid tribute to?
A Chinese director has first to do a movie for a 100% Chinese market. If it works elsewhere, that’s a success or a failure.
Masaki Kobayashi is a much better Japanese director than Kurosawa. End of the story.
I’ll take the John Wick series over crap like The Man from Nowhere and A Bittersweet Life and its not even close.
And films are subjective. The person watching gets to decide if they are good or bad.
Asian cinema doesn’t have monoply over these kinds of films. Anybody can make them.
And The Man from Nowhere from ripped off Leon The Professional. Don’t care about A Bittersweet Crap.
what’s worse than a Snyderbro?
Troll idiots like Anonymous who claim that John Wick created action cinema
Films are subjective. The person watching gets to decide if they are good or bad.
Retarded trolls like you think your opinion is fact and you get triggered when someone disagrees with you.
Loser.
and yes even though the movie is set in 600AD , the directors should defintely make it more realistic and in a modern setting. They should set it in a realistic modern day New York where everyone is an assassin and has bullet proof suits.
He can do a different film together. Realistic is better .But I’m pretty sure in In In 600AD they didn’t swing round on wires in there fights.. But I 100% expectit in Yuen Woo Pings version of 600AD.
Wire fu epics mentioned above. Iron monkey , Fong said yuk etc are bad to me due to wirework. It honestly doesn’t look good . Ong -bak when it was released in u.k had No wires written on front as a selling point. That tells u really people prefer no wires internationally in there films.
Duel to death was o.k. Wire work actually looks rubbish in my opinion. I like action to have a realistic feel even in a period film. In 80’s & with Bruce Lee fights were grounded & moves looked possible. Moves have to have a semblance of possibility 4 me really to enjoy a film.
Don’t bother with Ska Martes. Hes a troll loser idiot.
Your mother thinks otherwise last night
Your mother is a retarded whore.
I’m going to be your stepdad if things work out with your mother, so don’t call her a whore….at least not in public. Lets keep family shit private. Your mothe rhas already told me about hooking up with randoms after your father left.
Blah blah blah. Your father is retarded. And so is your retarded whore mother.
Your retarded whore mother should have swallowed.
You pathetic cockroach.
For someone who’s not into Asian cinema, you sure write like the subtitles on an old Mei Ah DVD.
you are a prime example of why abortions are necessary. the backstreet DIY abortion was unsuccesful. when your parents packed your school lunch they must have thought about slipping in some cyanide. at school I bet your teachers wanted you to be bullied. when there’s an active shooter I bet your classmates pointed the shooter in your direction
You should have died at birth. This is what happens when retarded parents give birth to retarded children like you.
A fucking waste of space, a burden to the society.
Fucking retarded parasite.
You’re the cockroach 🪳
He can just keep people on ground like they would be in 600AD & we will go from there. Maybe if he does a good job he will be allowed to direct in New York 1 day.
I’m sure it was important to mention that people don’t fly around in real life in any time period. That must mean all fantasy films are bad because they’re not realistic either.
It’s also not realistic for people to have epic fights when in real life, they’d have broken hands, or if blades were used, they’d be bleeding to death and lose their motor skills.
I have to find this rule in New York that says Woo Ping isn’t allowed to film there. Is it a sign that is posted at the airport? I get the feeling he wouldn’t obey it.
Anyway, … ’em all, Xao Feng is the best since Tsui Hark and even further (Jackie Chan/Sammo Hung…).
I like what I see so far. Everyone looks in fine form, and it’s like Jet Li never stopped training. Will this be his swan song?
I remember how much everyone was confused when it was announced that Fearless would be his final martial arts movie, but then he said he would still do movies with martial arts, and that he meant that he wouldn’t be doing anything as big as Fearless. This is why context is important!
The anime is on YouTube. I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far, and it looks like the movie is trying to stay true to the style of it.
22″-23″ = Tony Leung Kar-fai????
Never heard anything about him in this movie. It’s not him but is like his twin, it’s him but it’s just fot a cameo…
Jet now has a channel on YouTube. Someone ask him to buy back Hero and put out a good edition. https://youtu.be/MmSbHQ5hURs?si=twQKLQLhi5prRosQ
