It’s been a somber last few days for fans of action and martial arts cinema, but Chuck Norris (Slaughter in San Francisco) leaves behind a lasting legacy of films we can revisit and enjoy for years to come.

Our favorites of his will always be 1982’s Silent Rage, 1983’s Lone Wolf McQuade, 1985’s Code of Silence, 1985’s Invasion U.S.A. (it’s essentially “Die Hard in South Florida!”) and 1986’s Delta Force, but if you’re curious about one of his last released action films, it was Agent Recon, a 2024 production that had the iconic martial arts star team up with Marc Singer (The Beastmaster, V) and Derek Ting.

In Agent Recon (the follow-up to Ting’s Agent Revelation and Agent), a covert military task force tracks a mysterious energy disturbance at a secret base in New Mexico that is suspected of experimenting on alien technology. Once there, the team encounters an unknown being of extraordinary strength and speed, and the ability to control an army of mindless warriors.

Agent Recon is written and directed by star, Derek Ting (Agent Revelation, Agent). In charge of the fight choreography is Nathan People (Agent Revelation, Agent), who is perhaps best known for his choreography work in 2022’s Kingdom Hearts: Dream of Another World, and stunt work in films such as 2023’s Silent Night, 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and 2021’s F9: The Fast Saga.

We haven’t reviewed Agent Recon ourselves, and reactions haven’t been particularly glowing. However, given some of the recent Oscar winners, it’s worth seeing for yourself and forming your own opinion (different strokes for different folks, right?).

The good news is, Agent Recon won’t be the final production we’ll be seeing Norris in. The late star is part of ensemble cast in the upcoming, already-filmed Zombie Plane, who stars alongside Vanilla Ice (read about it here).

Agent Recon is currently On Digital and On Demand. Watch the film’s Trailer below:

  1. Dan says:

Absolutely blows my mind that Norris is still going as an action movie star at 83 years old!

  2. Bruce Jensen says:

That … looks … every bit as good as Grizzly 2!! Which is to say, I’d guess I’ll try to watch it (see how far I can make it) at some point. Looks like it would have some kind of nostalgic appeal for me, but, Jeezus, at this point Chuck’s action double from Walker Texas Ranger, Chip Wright, is too old to be starring in action movies!

  3. R.J. Amadeus says:

Wow, Chuck at 83 and still kicking. This is a must watch for Norris, but take it lightlighy and enjoy it with no explosive expectations.

  4. While Nathan People was the chief fight choreographer, Chuck’s son Dallas took over as Chuck’s choreographer for his one and only fight scene. I talked to Derek Ting about the film and said both Chuck and Marc Singer came on at every day early and ready to go. The action was a throwback to 80s and 90s American action films but fun IMO.
