Martial arts star Jet Li is back and busier than ever. Fresh off his comeback role in Blades of the Guardians, he has been keeping fans engaged through his YouTube channel and now he is bringing his talents to the small screen.
Thanks to the smartphone, a new format has been on the rise for some time: the vertical format. This short-form, scripted video type – typically between one and two minutes per episode – is shot in an aspect ratio specifically for mobile phone viewing (it’s basically the opposite of widescreen).
The format is mostly known for dramas, hence the name “micro drama”, which is a style that blew up in China through platforms like TikTok. But now martial arts star Jet Li (Blades of the Guardians) is using the format to bring some hard-hitting action with Yan Yu Jiang Hu.
Yan Yu Jiang Hu centers on Chen Ye, a skilled masseur who acquires the extraordinary ability to see the “vital points” (命门 – mingmen) of his enemies. As he navigates his newfound power, he becomes caught up in a dangerous conspiracy involving the “Hunting Martial Arts Alliance” (猎武会), a shadowy group hunting down martial arts masters.
Jet Li is part of an ensemble cast that includes Tsao Yu Ning (Kano), Cheng Guo (Love Blossoms with the Wind), Du Ya Fei (I Love You In My Dreams) and renowned martial arts practitioner and fitness influencer, Sun Linya.
A release date for Yan Yu Jiang Hu is pending.
A behind the scenes clip has been released, and it reveals that Jet Li still has the abilities that made him famous. Check it out below:

Awesome scoop as always guys.
Minor comment – from the poster, it looks like the Chinese name might actually be 源力江湖, Yuan2 Li4 Jiang1 Hu2, or “Source Power of the Martial World.” Either way, great to see Jet Li back in action – he still has so much to offer.
