I thought maybe Sony were going to pull a similar stunt like Eureka! & Criterion did with ‘Once Upon a Time in China & America’ in their OUATC boxsets, and have ‘The Next Karate Kid’ listed as a glorified special feature, but seems like its legitimately been snubbed.
Yeah…They disowned that movie like redheaded stepchild.
I was thinking the same. It make sense they wouldn’t spend the money to give it the full on 4K treatment, but including it as a feature (as you mentioned) would have pleased most. Hilary Swank couldn’t be that “unmarketable” lol
I’m gonna third that wish, even though maybe Karate Kid 4 is a far less entertaining movie than OUATC & America. You know what Hilary Swank is great in though? The Hunt from last year(?). It’s a fairly generic action movie with a battle royale kinda premise but then the ending she fights Betty Gilpin and hot damn is it blood thirsty! Guess she put that Karate training from Mr. Miyagi and the boxing training from Clint Eastwood to good use after all!
That was a fun one! If you’re gonna go political with a comedy, I wanna see everyone getting a bit of venom in their eye, so I definitely appreciated that aspect (people say and do STUPID things on both sides of the spectrum). And that fight was a slobberknocker, as good ol’ JR used to say.
Ah Next Karate Kid…the film where Frank Welker makes an eagle sound like a monkey!
