With a handful of projects currently under his belt, martial arts sensation Scott Adkins (Accident Man, Eliminators) is without doubt, one of the most active action stars in the business. And now, a new project, titled Incoming (read our review), is just around the corner.
This one puts the Savage Dog star in somewhat of a Die Hard-in-space scenario. According to Deadline, Incoming revolves around an International Space Station that now serves as a prison. When the imprisoned terrorists take over the Station and turn it into a missile aimed at Moscow, only a shuttle pilot and a rookie doctor can stop them. Adkins plays a rogue CIA agent who has his own plans for the station and the terrorists within.
Incoming is being helmed by first-time director Eric Zaragoza. The film is written by Jorge Saralegui (Showtime) and based on a story by producer Rick Benattar (producer of Shoot ‘Em Up).
“We’re thrilled to be working with Scott on this exciting new project. It’s a science fiction film but rooted in the realities of our world today. It explores familiar themes and looks at what could be our world in the not-too-distant future,” said producer Benattar (via KWPR).
Be sure to read about Adkins’ other looming projects, such as Ip Man 4, Twilight Zodiac, Altar Rock, Triple Threat, Malevolence, Sinners and Saints: Vengeance and Pay Up.
Incoming is currently in post-production with a release date by XLrator Media set sometime in 2018. For now, check out the film’s New Trailer below:
The plot of this movie kind of reminds me of the Luc Besson-produced ‘Guy Pearce trapped in a space prison’ movie “Lockout” from 2012 (which was okay) crossed with the massively underrated 2010 PS3/360 video game Vanquish. Could be good, as long as Scott gets to show off his moves! A first-time director doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence but you never know, he could potentially knock it out of the park.
I was thinking the same thing, but decided to narrow it down by using the cliche “Die Hard in _____ ” term. As far as first time directors… well… I hear ya… but I’d rather give a first time director a chance instead of someone with 48 Steven Seagal films on their directorial resume. A 1% chance of a decent film is better than 0%. I’m not going to mention any names (not even Keoni Waxman’s).
I too instantly thought of Lockout. But, Lockout with Scott Adkins sounds like an already superior film to Lockout, no offense to Guy Pearce. Plus, the thought of some more sci-fi infused Adkins action sounds great. I know UniSol: DOR had sci-fi flourishes, but a film in space has my money. As always, Adkins has my money and loyalty.
This looks very promising. First time director is fine with me. Some directors are able to hit the ground running with their first feature (John Wick). I agree that a first timer is better than someone with 20 terrible films on their resume.
The tag line for this should be ‘Half Past Dead in space!’
After watching this trailer, i can say that it looks cheap but passable movie, but till I see better trailer or more action footage, this looks a lot worse than Lockout. I love Scott Adkins, and a badass action movie with him in space could be great, but in this case with this trailer, it looks just ok.
The unrated version of Lockout was pretty cool. Guy Pearce was awesome and had hilarious lines which made the film.
This looks way too cheap though. It doesn’t even look like Scott is the main focus, and the fight choreography comes across as slow. He made have needed a paycheck in between passion projects.
Sadly every new Scott Adkins trailer seems to look cheaper than the previous Scott Adkins film these days.
Well…at least this’ll be better than that time Jeff Speakman went into space, right?
I caught an early preview of Incoming, and unfortunately, it sucks.
What’s frustrating is that it wasn’t doomed from the start. It could have been like Lockout, but the movie is cheap as all hell, the script is sloppy, and there’s no action choreography.
Scott Adkins seemed to be the only screen fighter on set, so he had to resort to waving a stick around to scare off prisoners.
I was kind of impressed with how professional Adkins came across in the acting department. Even though he knew he was in a bad movie, he treated the material at face value and did his job.
The movie looks like it was filmed in a week, and comes off as bad 90’s DTV fare.
At least we have better Scott movies to look forward to.
You took one for the team here Andrew, and for that the COF crew tips their hat to you! Your comments confirm all of my worst fears from the trailer.
This sounds like a movie which sits on the shelf next to the likes of ‘Legendary’ and ‘Re-Kill’ (did that one even get released?), rather than the likes of his ‘Undisputed’ movies and recent flicks with Jesse V. Johnson.
Thank you for the kind words.
I wasn’t expecting much from Incoming, but after everything Adkins has been through, I didn’t think he’d be portrayed as a guy sloppily waving a baton around like he’s in a cheap zomie film.
The movie ends up having a near identical plot to Lockout, but without the fun factor. It’s very unfortunate.
