You gotta let your WANG hang! Steve Wang’s cult classic ‘Guyver 2: Dark Hero’ arriving on Blu-ray later this year

On September 8, 2026, Toy Robot Video (a new sub-label of Arrow Video) will be releasing a Blu-ray for Guyver 2: Dark Hero. Directed by Steve Wang (Drive), this 1994 sci-fi actioner stars David Hayter, who is perhaps best known for writing the screenplays to 2000’s X-Men, 2003’s X-Men 2, and 2009’s Watchmen, as well as doing the voice for “Solid Snake” in the English versions of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

He’s back and ready to take on an ancient evil from destroying the world. The world’s most powerful superhero battles to change his destiny and save the planet in this exciting sequel to The Guyver, originally released on DVD in the US in October 2004.

Sean Barker returns to settle some unfinished business with the evil human mutants, the Zoanoids. Drawn to an archeological dig in Utah, he discovers an alien ship filled with weapons capable of world destruction. With the fate of all mankind in his hands, The Guyver makes a final stand against the forces of evil.

Guyver 2: Dark Hero makes its Blu-ray debut in the US and UK in 2026, via Toy Robot Video.

I’m even more excited about this one than Roaring Fire. I know we’ll get a commentary from Wang, but I’d love to have the Japanese BTS special, an interview with Hayter, a “Making Of” or anything else they can put together. Huge, HUGE fan of this movie growing up, and I still try to watch it once a year, often in a double feature with Drive.
