Looks like Bruce isn’t the only dragon kicking it in Rome! Get ready for Forbidden City (aka Kung Fu in Rome), an upcoming martial arts actioner starring Yaxi Liu, who is perhaps best known as Liu Yifei’s stunt double in Disney’s Mulan.
Directed by Gabriele Mainetti (They Call Me Jeeg), this Italian production also stars Enrico Borello (Supersex), Marco Giallini (Rocco), and Sabrina Ferilli (The Great Beauty), as well as Chunyu Shanshan (King of Fighters).
Mei arrives in Rome looking for her missing sister and, along the way, meets Marcello, who is desperate to find his father. Together, they will fight their way through the Roman underworld.
The film arrives on Digital on March 17 – then on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on March 21 – from Well Go USA. Watch the New Trailer below:

Can’t wait to see it. Why don’t more martial art films come out of Italy? (The cheapos don’t count!)
I wish there was a sub genre of Italian martial art films in line with the works of Alain Corneau or other “poliziottesco” films. Forbidden City may not be that, but it’s a thought.
back in the ’70s there were a couple of spaghetti kung fu western.
oh, and there was also that one where Bud Spencer fought Tatsuya Nakadai.
