We’ll soon see action icon Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Royal Warriors) take on the Rubik’s Cube This is My Time, an upcoming comedy-drama marking her first Chinese language film since 2018’s Master Z: Ip Man Legacy.
In the film, Yeoh portrays a 70-year-old woman determined to take back control of her life after being placed in a nursing home. She gets a second chance when a young coach notices her unusual skill at solving the Rubik’s Cube, transforming her into a record-breaking sensation and a television star.
This is My Time is directed by Bai Xue (The Crossing) and also stars Liu Haoran (Legend of the Demon Cat, Detective Chinatown franchise).
The film is produced by Wen Yue’s Shanghai-based General Dream Studio and is set for release this year from Hong Kong’s Media Asia (via Screen Daily).
🔥 Footnote: The Rubik’s Cube was created in 1974 by Ernő Rubik and hit worldwide popularity in the 1980s. Even though it can look completely scrambled, every position is still part of a fixed mathematical system, which is why it can always be solved using set move sequences rather than guesswork.
We expect a Trailer for This is My Time to pop up soon, until then, here’s the Trailer for Master Z: Ip Man Legacy:
