Sword of Desperation | Blu-ray (Animeigo)

On December 14, 2021, Animeigo is releasing the Blu-ray for Sword of Desperation, a 2010 samurai actioner directed by Hideyuki Hirayama (School Ghost Stories) and written by Shuhei Fujisawa, author of the Oscar-nominated The Twilight Samurai.
In order to save his fief, an expert swordsman publicly assassinates his lord’s favorite concubine. Instead of being beheaded, he is sentenced to solitary confinement for one year, then ordered to serve as the lord’s bodyguard. This tale of honor, intrigue and deception inevitably ends in bloodshed and betrayal.
The film stars Etsushi Toyokawa (Love Letter, No Way Back), Chizuru Ikewaki (Looking for a True Fiancee), Koji Kikkawa (Kamen Rider W), Naho Toda (The Travelling Cat Chronicles) and Jun Murakami (The Land of Hope).
