Martial arts fans will soon get to see Iko Uwais (Timur, The Raid) and Lewis Tan (Wildcat, Mortal Kombat II) go head to head once again in Survive the Night, an upcoming action thriller from writer/director Keoni Waxman, the filmmaker behind Steven Seagal vehicles such as Force of Execution and Contract to Kill.
After failing to carry out a hit on rival crime boss, Paine (Uwais) is forced to flee town and crosses paths at a train station with Valeri, a mysterious pregnant woman also desperate to escape her violent past. What begins as a shared desire for escape turns deadly when Paine’s former boss and the father of Valeri’s child comes looking for her.
The film also stars Michael Rooker (Replacement Killers), Eva De Dominici (Cosmic Sin), Ron Balicki (Force of Execution), Robert Ri’chard (House of Wax) and Teagan O’Hara (Cocaine Island).
🔥 Footnote: Iko Uwais and Lewis Tan previously teamed up in the 2019 series Wu Assassins and its 2022 follow-up film, Fistful of Vengeance. Come to think of it, Tan is on a serious roll lately. He’s also set to face off against Scott Adkins twice in both Brawler and Deadlocked. Who is he coming for next?
Survive the Night is currently in production in Bangkok, Thailand from Lux Angeles Studios. We’ll keep you updated on the project as more details emerge. Until then, check out some production photos from the film, followed by fight footage of Iko Uwais and Lewis Tan from Fistful of Vengeance:

I hope Waxman is stepping back and letting the cast and fight choreographers do most of the work. Of all his action pictures, The Hard Way was the least awful since he had a leading man who didn’t need to sit down for most of the movie or use stunt doubles for walking up stairs.
I was thinking the same thing. That might actually be a magical recipe for the director (and most directors, in general!)
Looking at Gareth Evans’ work outside Indonesia I think you may be on to something here.
I watched “Furious” and then watched this one way too slow. like 90’s
I watched The Furious trailer then this, yeah seems kind of slow
Looking forward to this…. Hopefully it gets a limited release near me and a DVD or bluray.
