Stone | Blu-ray (88 Films)

On August 11, 2026, 88 Films is releasing the Blu-ray (Region A) for 1974’s Stoner. Ex-Bond George Lazenby was a friend to Bruce Lee – they’d discussed a collaboration on the night Bruce died – and here we finally get to see his moves. Directed by Huang Feng (The Tournament) and co-starring the infamous Betty Ting Pei (Bruce Lee’s secret lover!) and a young Sammo Hung (who also arranged the outrageous action), Stoner is one of the first great international martial arts movies.

Someone’s flooding Australia with designer drugs and Sydney’s toughest cop, Joshua Stoner – played by Lazenby (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Queen’s Ransom) – has travelled to Hong Kong to find out who. He’s not the only one on the hunt – Taiwanese super-cop Li (Angela Mao, the first lady of kung-fu) is also on the case; between them, the mob is in big trouble.

How this movie got the remaster treatment is mind boggling? What a waste of a Blu Ray! Stoner: The Shrine of Ultimate Piss more like!

A fun guilty pleasure right here. I do wish that 88 released this in a box set with other films like Shout did with their DVD set years ago.

I remember all these Mao Ying films only available on VCD, still have a bunch from Chinatown NY. Nice Lot from 88 Films.
