Dammit. 😞 We’ll miss you, Ringo.

Just woke up to discover this. RIP Sir.

Damn, this sucks. It’s easy to take it for granted that our favorite directors will be around for a long time. Unless he finished his segment for Eight and a Half, it sucks that Sky in Fire is his last film.

I’d rather remember him for the On Fire series and Full Contact. (Although Looking For Mr Perfect where Simon Yam parodied his role from Full Contact was light hearted fun.)

What a sad day… City On Fire is one of my all time favourite films and of course inspired the name of this website. Prison On Fire was the film that tilted me towards Hong Kong film … Apart from being brutal expressions of cinema, both of these films had a fantastic emotional heart to them … So much so that Quentin Tarantino would remake City On Fire with Reservoir Dogs … Thank you Ringo, your films were so important in my journey with cinema.

  5. Gone far too young, but he left an inimitable stamp on Hong Kong cinema that will ensure his name lives on for years to come. For me ‘Full Contact’ was one of the very first DVD’s I imported, and it remains a firm favorite to this day. I still have a few first time watches from his filmography, so now seems the time to start remedying that.

Only found out he died now. Wow. R.I.P.
