CBD Oil vs Gummies: The Differences Explained

One of the biggest challenges facing consumers of CBD oil is its delivery forms. There are oils and CBD tinctures to be sure. You can load up a vaporizer or toss a pinch in some tea.

But it was only recently that methods developed to turn cannabidiol into goodies. Gummies, cookies, and even chocolate are now possible.

With all the choices available, how do you know which is best for you? Read on for a deep dive into the differences between CBD oil vs gummies.

Form and Consumption

CBD oil is a liquid extract that is typically derived from hemp plants. It is available in various concentrations and is usually taken sublingually (under the tongue) for faster absorption into the bloodstream. Users place a few drops of oil under the tongue and hold it there for about a minute before swallowing.

CBD gummies are edible candies infused with CBD oil. They come in pre-measured doses and are ingested by chewing and swallowing, similar to regular gummy candies.

Absorption and Onset

Sublingual administration allows CBD to bypass the digestive system and enter the bloodstream directly through the mucous membranes in the mouth. This can result in a faster onset of effects, typically within 15-30 minutes.

CBD in gummies is absorbed through the digestive system, which can take longer than sublingual absorption. Depending on individual metabolism and other factors, effects may take around 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in.

Dosage and Convenience

CBD oil allows for more precise dosage adjustments since you can control the number of drops you take. It’s suitable for those who want to customize their dosage based on their needs.

Gummies come in pre-determined doses, making them convenient for users who prefer consistent dosing without measuring. However, this can make it harder to adjust the dosage to specific requirements.

Taste and Flavor

The taste of CBD oil can vary depending on factors such as the extraction method and whether the oil is flavored. Some people describe the taste as earthy, herbal, or slightly bitter. While some users don’t mind the taste, others find it unappealing.

CBD gummies are formulated to taste pleasant, often resembling regular gummy candies. They come in various flavors and can effectively mask the natural taste of CBD, making them a more enjoyable option for those sensitive to the taste of the oil.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a convenient option with pre-measured doses and various flavors, you can now stop into dispensaries like Trulieve of Whitehall. They offer a personalized medical marijuana shopping experience by exploring their range of CBD gummies.

Longevity of Effects

The effects of CBD oil usually last around 4 to 6 hours, depending on factors like dosage and individual metabolism. This relatively shorter duration might necessitate multiple doses throughout the day.

Due to the prolonged digestion process, the effects of CBD gummies tend to last longer, typically around 6 to 8 hours. This longer duration between doses can be convenient for maintaining effects over a longer period.

Picking Between CBD Oil vs Gummies

CBD oil and gummies offer two unique and convenient ways to take CBD. When considering if CBD oil vs gummies, take the time to explore what each has to offer and what will work best for you.

Ultimately, the best product is the one that fits into your life and routine. Get started today and explore the difference for yourself!

During the 2010’s when Netflix began to directly produce movies, being associated with the platform was considered an exciting prospect. With the appeal of being able to match the budgets of the big studios, but not be constrained by the limitations imposed by a traditional studio, the streaming giant offered a level of creative freedom to some of the most distinctive filmmakers working today. In 2017 Bong Joon-ho helmed the Netflix backed Okja, and espoused in interviews how he basically had carte blanche to make the movie how he wanted, something that would have been impossible in any other circumstances. In 2019 Martin Scorsese directed The Irishman and had similar high praise, reuniting with Robert De Niro for the first time since 1995. In short, Netflix seemed be branding itself as a platform where some of the biggest names in cinema could have full control to bring their visions to the screen, even if it was the small one.

However the dawn of the 2020’s brought with it a deadly combination. Rapid advances in the way algorithms are leveraged started to dictate what kind of content got greenlit, while the COVID-19 pandemic (which took up most of 2020 and 2021) led to a surge of subscribers, all of whom needed more and more new content to survive the gruelling lockdowns. The movies Netflix produced started to grow en masse, but the quality didn’t match that growth, instead heading in the opposite direction. Whereas just a few short years before filmmakers were praising the full creative freedom they had, almost overnight we transitioned into a world were the type of productions Continue reading

“Crazy Rich Asians” didn’t just translate the opulent lives of the ultra-wealthy onto the screen; it painted a vivid portrait of a world where extravagance knows no bounds. Set against the stunning backdrop of Singapore, the film masterfully intertwined opulent lifestyles with intricate relationships. Amidst this tapestry, the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck emerged as a potent symbol, capturing the essence of the city’s modern allure. One pivotal scene, strategically set against the glimmering skyline, elevated the observation deck to an emblem of opulence and contemporary grandeur. The sprawling deck, with its panoramic vistas, seamlessly aligned with the film’s motifs of excess and luxury. With the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck as a stage, the film found a tangible way to communicate its opulent narrative, imprinting a sense of architectural splendor onto the cinematic experience.

Equals (2015):

Gardens by the Bay: The science fiction drama “Equals” drew profound inspiration from Singapore’s captivating Gardens by the Bay, with a particular focus on the enchanting Supertree Grove. This cinematic masterpiece’s premise, exploring a world devoid of emotions, seamlessly aligned with the ethereal ambiance of the Supertrees. These towering vertical gardens, meticulously sculpted and illuminated, stood as an uncanny mirror to the film’s overarching themes of humanity’s meticulously controlled existence. The deliberate contrast between these awe-inspiring artificial structures and the characters’ yearning for authentic emotions crafted a poignant allegory. Through this allegory, the film vividly showcased how architectural marvels can be seamlessly woven into the intricate fabric of a story’s emotional landscape. The Supertree Grove, with its otherworldly presence and symbolic resonance, served as more than a backdrop—it became a living embodiment of the characters’ struggles and the delicate equilibrium between technological advancement and the human soul’s innate desires.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001):

Angelina Jolie’s dynamic portrayal of the intrepid archaeologist, Lara Croft, brought her to the lush and vibrant landscapes of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. Amidst this verdant oasis, the futuristic Supertree Grove emerged as an ethereal backdrop, casting an enchanting aura over a visually captivating sequence. The film ingeniously melded its action-packed narrative with the surreal allure of the Supertrees, culminating in a cinematic masterpiece that thrived on this distinct contrast. The Grove, with its towering Supertrees, became more than just a setting; it evolved into a character that mirrored Lara Croft’s audacious spirit and her quest for the extraordinary. The film’s strategic use of this juxtaposition added depth to the storyline, creating a mesmerizing tapestry where the boundaries of nature and technology blurred seamlessly. As these colossal Supertrees stretched toward the sky, their unique fusion symbolized the embodiment of adventure, aligning with Lara Croft’s relentless pursuit of the unknown.

Ah Boys to Men (2012):

In the Singaporean comedy-drama, the exploration of National Service is intertwined with the backdrop of the city’s iconic urban landscape. Against this dynamic setting, the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark emerges as a visual metaphor, playing a role beyond its physical presence. As characters navigate their moments of growth and camaraderie, the sweeping panoramic views from the SkyPark take on a deeper significance. These vistas symbolize the characters’ evolving perspectives and transformative experiences, amplifying the emotional resonance of the film’s narrative. The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark becomes not just a location, but a canvas on which the characters’ personal journeys unfold against the backdrop of Singapore’s modernity.

In “The Amazing Race Asia,” Singapore’s landmarks like Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay Sands stand as cultural touchstones within the competition’s diverse tapestry of locations. The show artfully captures Singapore’s distinct fusion of futuristic architecture and lush greenery. Beyond serving as picturesque pit stops, these sites embody Singapore’s multifaceted identity, allowing participants and viewers alike to be captivated by the city’s unique charm.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” (2009):

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film managed to seamlessly integrate scenes shot at Singapore’s iconic landmark, the Marina Bay Sands. The futuristic skyline proved to be an ideal and visually striking backdrop that harmoniously complemented the movie’s urban aesthetics and global atmosphere. The soaring architecture and contemporary essence of Marina Bay Sands heightened the film’s visual allure, effectively echoing its overarching theme of larger-than-life characters in an international milieu. The grandeur of the cityscape not only provided an authentic setting but also lent credibility to the film’s urban narrative, underlining the expansive reach of the “Street Fighter” universe. The juxtaposition of the characters’ dynamics against the grandiose cityscape added depth to the storyline, accentuating their global impact. Despite the mixed critical reception, the film’s utilization of Marina Bay Sands as a backdrop succeeded in creating a visually captivating and thematically resonant cinematic experience.

Blackhat (2015):

A gripping cybercrime thriller, skillfully harnessed Singapore’s sleek and modern architecture to heighten its narrative impact. The movie strategically chose iconic locations such as Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay to infuse the storyline with a layer of contemporary sophistication. These architectural wonders served as more than mere backdrops; they seamlessly merged with the plot’s technological intrigue, creating a compelling visual dichotomy between state-of-the-art design and the depths of the cybercriminal underworld. Against Singapore’s dynamic urban landscape, the juxtaposition of cutting-edge technology and the movie’s cyber-driven plot deepened the film’s tension, adding layers of complexity to the characters’ pursuit. The city’s role as a thriving center of innovation resonated with the film’s theme, emphasizing its status as a global hub for technology and advancement. The movie capitalized on the city’s fusion of modernity and tradition, using it as a canvas to paint a story that resonates with both local and international audiences.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016):

In this sequel to the much-admired martial arts film, the cinematic journey leads to a mesmerizing sequence set within the enchanting realm of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. This juxtaposition takes on a life of its own as dynamic martial arts unfold against the lush greenery and futuristic Supertrees that have become iconic of the city’s landscape. The fusion of the film’s kinetic action with the natural setting forms a captivating symphony, where nature and modernity dance in harmony. The carefully choreographed scene melds seamlessly with the contemporary backdrop, adding depth to the narrative and accentuating the film’s essence. Through this visual spectacle, the film not only delivers on its action-packed promises but also engages in a dialogue with the city’s essence. The Gardens by the Bay play an instrumental role in elevating the movie’s grandeur, offering a rare perspective into the interplay between age-old traditions and the innovation of the present day.

The Korean film industry is having somewhat of a love affair with science fiction in the 2020’s, a genre which had remained largely ignored since the Korean Wave era of the early 2000’s. In the past 3 years we’ve had dystopian visions of the future presented in the likes of Peninsula and Time to Hunt, colourful space adventures with Space Sweepers, and explorations of cyborgs with artificial intelligence in Jung_E. Thanks to the success of 2021’s Squid Game, the amount of money Netflix has been willing to throw in Korea’s direction has even seen the emergence of sci-fi K-drama’s like Black Knight and The Silent Sea. It’s the latter’s mission to the moon plot that’s used as the same jumping off point for the countries latest big screen outing, which sees visual effects studio Dexter founder Kim Yong-hwa returning to the director’s chair for the appropriately titled The Moon.

It’s the first time for Yong-hwa to return to directing since helming the 2 Along With the Gods movies with 2017’s The Two Worlds and 2018’s The Last 49 Days, productions that were considered landmark moments in showing off Korea’s special effects capabilities, and saw a further 2 immediately green lit. However 5 years later there’s still no sign of the third and fourth instalments, and seeing Yong-hwa back at the helm of another special effects heavy spectacle is perhaps a sign that we shouldn’t hold our breath. Also penning the script, The Moon sees him re-team Continue reading

Master and the Kid (1978) Review

"Shaolin Master and the Kid" Theatrical Poster

“Shaolin Master and the Kid” Theatrical Poster

AKA Shaolin Master and the Kid

Running Time: 91 min.

Lone Wolf and Cub remains one of the most well-regarded comic books and film series to come from Japan. My own love for the first film in the series, Sword of Vengeance, is documented here on City on Fire. Something I didn’t know for a good while was that the series inspired a Taiwanese kung fu film from the classic era. As soon as I knew this I sought the movie out, not sure if justice would be done. Boy, was I not disappointed. Shaolin Master and the Kid has all of the elements of great Taiwanese fu, like strong visuals, a sense of the surreal and imaginatively staged action. There’s something a little different in there; some kind of magic that permeates the atmosphere, and allows the production to transcend being a mere homage.

Nan Kong Sao (Yueh Hua) is a Government law officer whose family is murdered when he brings a criminal to justice. He sets off to find the killers with his young nephew, encountering assassins each step of the way.

The opening of Shaolin Master and the Kid is clumsy, and throws information at the viewer until the relatively generic narrative of the film begins. It’s a far cry from the simple brilliance in story design of the Lone Wolf and Cub series, but then again Taiwanese kung fu Continue reading

9 Hemp Facts That Will Definitely Surprise You

The benefits of hemp are limitless, and people are starting to take notice.

With more and more states in America legalizing the use of hemp, these facts should not come as a surprise. But as a passionate hemp enthusiast, you should always be expanding your knowledge on the subject.

What is hemp, and what are some hemp facts you need to know? Let’s dive in.

1. Industrial Versatility

Hemp is an incredibly versatile crop and is often overlooked for its potential applications. Hemp fibers are five times stronger and more durable than cotton fibers. This makes hemp an excellent choice for:

  • carpets
  • textiles
  • paper

All of these products require resistance to wear and tear. Hemp is also an ideal choice for cosmetics and health supplements. It is also an excellent soil conditioner, absorbing heavy metals, toxins, and fertilizers that would otherwise remain in the soil.

The hemp hurd, or inner woody core, is a great source of cellulose for the production of biodegradable plastics, composites, and insulation products. Finally, hemp is a renewable resource that can be grown in a variety of climates, making it an ideal choice for countries looking to create more sustainable practices.

2. Rapid Growth

Hemp is known to have many benefits, and its rapid growth rate is one of the most attractive attributes that makes it stand out from other plants. Through photosynthesis, hemp can produce higher yields in a shorter period of time than any other commercially viable crop.

Hemp achieves rapid growth in just 80-120 days and can get up to 15 feet tall in ideal conditions. This is an especially remarkable feat since hemp only requires minimal fertilizer and can even thrive in nutrient-deficient soils.

3. Nutritional Value

Hemp protein contains all nine essential amino acids and is considered a complete protein. This makes it a great choice for plant-based diets. Hemp seeds also contain a good source of healthy fats, including omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.

One ounce of hemp seeds contains about 3.3g of protein, 7.9g of carbs, and 2.8g of dietary fiber. Furthermore, hemp seeds also contain essential vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin E, B vitamins, and zinc.

Hemp contains impressive amounts of antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and protect against cell damage. Overall, it is clear that hemp has a surprisingly high nutritional value!

4. Soil Remediation

Hemp is well known as a versatile crop, but what many may not think of is its ability to help remediate soil. Hemp can help absorb contaminants in soil, preventing them from entering water tables and becoming a human health hazard. Hemp can also absorb and remove heavy metals without becoming contaminated in the process.

Its deep roots also help loosen hard-packed soils, allowing other plants, trees, and foliage a better chance of success. Hemp can also pull harmful substances out of the soil, such as E. coli, arsenic, and lead.

This is done with so-called phytoremediation, using hemp to absorb and transform soil particles and chemicals into a less hazardous form.

5. Legalization

Hemp is an agricultural crop that is legal in some countries across the globe and is being increasingly viewed through a different lens. The legal status of cannabis and hemp varies widely around the world and within different jurisdictions.

In many places, cannabis is classified as a controlled substance due to its psychoactive properties and potential for abuse. Hemp, with its low THC content, has been legalized for various industrial and commercial purposes in some regions, especially for products like textiles, food, cosmetics, and CBD supplements.

6. Environmental Benefits

For starters, hemp has an impressive ability to regenerate itself in as few as four months! Additionally, hemp can grow in almost any environment, requires minimal processing, and has a massive output. This makes it an excellent resource.

Furthermore, hemp is a carbon-negative crop, meaning that it not only absorbs incredibly more carbon dioxide than it emits but also improves soil health and microclimate. Lastly, hemp can be used to make bioplastics, an eco-friendly alternative to conventional plastics.

7. Clothing and Fashion

Hemp has been used in the clothing and fashion industry. What’s perhaps most surprising, however, is that when properly treated, hemp fabric can be just as soft, comfortable, and durable as any other fabric.

Hemp clothing is also known to be highly absorbent and wick away moisture quickly. Additionally, hemp clothing can be naturally treated to resist fading, shrinking, mildew, and even ultraviolet rays – qualities that not all fabrics can boast.

8. Biofuel Potential

Hemp can be used to create a variety of biofuels, including biodiesel, ethanol, and methane. Hemp biodiesel is an incredibly efficient combustion fuel and has many advantages over traditional petroleum diesel. It can be used in any diesel engine and may even reduce engine wear.

Additionally, hemp fuel reduces certain greenhouse gas emissions (up to 85%) when compared to diesel. Ethanol produced from hemp can be used as a direct-injection fuel as well as a fuel additive. Finally, hemp can produce methane gas, which can then be used for energy, like electricity and heat.

9. Potential for Sustainable Building

Fewer people know the potential for sustainable building with hemp. Hemp is one of the most sustainable building materials available because of its fast growth cycle, renewability, and low impact on the environment. Hemp can be used to make:

  • fiberboard
  • insulation
  • wall panels

It can also be used to create concrete-like blocks. Its insulating properties are highly effective and can save energy costs. Hemp is also free from toxic chemicals and is naturally pest-resistant, eliminating the need for pesticides.

In short, hemp is an incredibly versatile and sustainable material for building construction that can improve energy efficiency and sustainability. So if you want to maximize the full potential of hemp, look into reliable companies like 22nd Century Group that also look up to this sustainable product source.

Take Note of These Hemp Facts You Must Know

Hemp production has soared in recent years due to its sustainability. Hemp is now used in thousands of everyday products, and further advancements could shape hemp into a cornerstone of our modern society.

To learn more about the awe-inspiring potential of this sustainable crop aside from these hemp facts or facts about cannabis, explore hemp legalization efforts in your area and further your knowledge of hemp’s amazing properties.
