Filipino action filmmaker Erik Matti (BuyBust) is bringing On the Job to the small screen with On the Job, an HBO Asia Original 6-part mini series, but not so fast…

For those who think this is a totally New series, think again, because this “Original” 6-part mini series is actually the first On the Job film spread out, re-edited and remastered into two episodes; and the next four episodes are made up of the by name-only sequel, On the Job 2: The Missing 8.

The 2013 film – starring Piolo Pascual (Don’t Give Up on Us), Gerald Anderson (24/7 in Love), Joel Torre (Kabisera), Joey Marquez (Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles) and Michael de Mesa (10,000 Hours) – centered on prison inmates who work secretly as hired assassins for corrupt politicians.

The recent second film, On the Job 2: The Missing 8 – starring John Arcilla (The Bourne Legacy), Dennis Trillo (Shake, Rattle and Roll 14: The Invasion), Dante Rivero (Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story), Lotlot de Leon (Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles) and Christopher de Leon (Smaller and Smaller Circles) – focuses on corruption and media censorship now that a new strongman, Duterte, is in power in the Philippines.

The series streams on HBO GO on September 12, 2021. Don’t miss the Trailer below:
