Writer/director Philip Lui Koon-Nam, who co-directed 2019’s Undercover Punch ad Gun with Frankie Tam, is re-teaming with Philip Ng (Birth of the Dragon, Zombie Fight Club) and Andy On (Abduction, Blind War) for the upcoming actioner, Without Remorse (no relation to the 2021 Michael B. Jordan film of the same name).

The upcoming film also stars Tiger Chen (Triple Threat, John Wick 3), Chris Collins (Ip Man 4: The Finale), Sammy Hung (Dragon Blade) and DaDa Chan (Z Storm).

Ng and On have worked together many times before, with roles in the likes of Star Runner, New Police Story, Dragon Squad, Invisible Target, Naked Soldier, and Zombie Fight Club. However their most notable collaboration came in the form of 2014’s Once Upon a Time in Shanghai, were they shared co-lead status, and went toe-to-toe under the choreography of Yuen Woo-Ping.

Given that Without Remorse is coming from the same team as Undercover Punch ad Gun, there’s a chance that fight choreography may be handled by Ng himself – possibly with assistance from Joe Chu Cho-Kuen (Zombie Fight Club).

Plot details for Without Remorse are non-existent, but it is already being described as a “hardcore martial arts actioner” (via MAAC). We’ll keep you updated on this project as we learn more. Until then, here’s a look at what the Without Remorse team can do in the Trailer for Undercover Punch ad Gun:

  1. Andrew Hernandez says:

I’m looking forward to this being a success. The Chinese film industry may not be interested in making “the next big martial arts star” anymore, but Phillip Ng is very worthy of being one even if he’s not a master thespian. If the industry doesn’t notice him, he needs to force them to.

  2. Ska Martes says:

Uh oh from the director of Undercover Punch and Gun does not bode well. They remade a Shaw Bros classic for Once Upon a time in Shanghai its time for a remake of another classic
