I can attest that Fearless Kung Fu King is one of the few satisfying DTV outings from mainland China that has a fun, fast throwback feel to the classics.

There’s a TON of Fearless, Ip Man, Fong Sai Yuk, Wong Fei Hung and even Beggar So rip off/exploitation movies on the cheap coming out of China these days, and most of them are shit (I’d know, I watch a lot of them). But this one is not. Lots of hard, fast, well edited, well choreographed action. Low on cheese. No awful anachronisms that make a lot of the other ones unwatchable. Actors are passable.

I recommend anyone wanting a new decent kung fu movie to check it out. It’s as close as you’ll get to a new Yuen Woo Ping movie these days.

Thanks for your feedback. The Trailer for “Fearless Kung Fu King” definitely makes it look pretty good. So it’s not just the way the Trailer was cut, eh?

      • YM says:

Yeah I’ve been burned a lot by well edited trailers for a lot of these that turn out to only be taken from a couple minutes of good fights padded by over an hour of dumb humor, meandering story, and bad acting. Fearless KF King is pretty well paced and delivers plenty of action as promised.

It doesn’t have any star power or the mind blowing choreography of masters at their height but it’s a damn good imitation.

      thanks! gonna check it out.

I just checked out the movie on Hi-Yah myself to rewatch it but to my shock it is NOT the same movie I watched/JJ Bona posted the trailer for.

I don’t know what happened if Hi-Yah dropped the ball on uploading the wrong thing or if there was some mix up of titles/ rights but the movie on there is inferior. Video gamey costumes, cheap cinematography, corny humor… I hope they sort it out.

*EDIT: My page crashed as I posted this so if my prior comment went through you can ignore this one.

And they still haven’t fixed it! I’m wondering where people can view the real film instead of the cheap knockoff.

    • JJ Bona says:

Sorry, I’m just now seeing this. At first, I was thinking I uploaded the wrong file, but now, it looks like this was the trailer/title they have. I’m guessing it’s two movies with two titles. Do you have a link to the Trailer of the film you’re talking about ?

    • YM says:

@Andrew Hernandez @ JJ Bona Looks like they fixed it as of this time of writing! I went back to check out it and looks like it’s the right one now!

Thank you to all who checked!
