August 14th | Samurai Marathon Exclusive!

Acclaimed filmmaker Bernard Rose has created a stunning visual feast complemented by a haunting score from iconic composer Philip Glass. Inspired by a race still held annually in Japan, Samurai Marathon is a lively action flick with a samurai twist. In late feudal Japan, a young ninja (Satoh) operates undercover in the court of an aging lord and his rebellious daughter. When the lord challenges his lazy samurai to a punishing marathon—joined covertly by Princess Yuki—the ninja finds his loyalties put to the test. Facing impossible odds, this unusual band of characters is running a race to either win or die.

August 21st | The Villainess

Bloody revenge is at the heart of this stylish, kinetic action-thriller that
gives a welcome shot of adrenaline to the classic femme fatale story. Honed from
childhood into a merciless killing machine by a criminal organization, assassin
Sook-hee is recruited as a sleeper agent with the promise of freedom after ten years of
service – and she jumps at the chance for a normal life. But soon enough, secrets from
her past destroy everything she’s worked for, and now nobody can stand in her way as
she embarks on a roaring rampage of revenge. | Read our review.

August 28th | Furious

During the mid-13th century, Batu Khan’s ruthless horde of Mongols are
slowly taking over Russia, burning down cities and flooding Russian soil with blood.
Only one Ryazan swordsman, Evoaty Kolovrat, has the courage to stand in their way.
With help of a few brave souls, Kolovrat leads the charge against the Mongols to avenge
his people and his homeland. It is by the sword Russia rose and it is by the sword it can
be saved in this violent historical epic from director Ivan Shurkhovetskiy.

I may have to renew. Their original content is lacking, but at least they are trying.

  2. Fish out of water says:

I know they are still new and will constantly update but I do think they need to do something more to make it stand out considering its a niche market. I think there back catalogue can sub-stain them but with Netflix hosting a host of original content and some fantastic martial arts / Asian films they have serious competition.

Of course this is wishful thinking but I would love to see them invest in original content or maybe tap into the indie or martial arts community to bring something new.

    • JJ Bona says:

Agree on that. I do have to point out that they do have some additions that can count as “exclusive” content, or at least it’s a start:

I’d love to see that Kung Fun Extravaganza but I couldn’t find it on the Amazon Hi-Yah channel. That was how I discovered the service & is the most convenient way for me to access it. I hope I will have access to it at some point.
