On September 8, 2026, 88 Films is the releasing the Blu-ray (Region B) for Haunted Cop Shop, a 1987 Hong Kong horror-comedy classic from director Jeffrey Lau (Treasure Hunt).
Before he became the darling of the arthouses, Wong Kar-wai (The Grandmaster, Chungking Express) co-wrote this bawdy horror-comedy. It’s set in a police precinct that was previously a hang-out for Japanese soldiers during the war; the spirits of those who died there are restless, and looking for living victims. It’s up to slacker cops Jacky Cheung (Customs Frontline) and Ricky Hui (Private Eyes) to silence the unquiet dead once more.
The film also stars Billy Lau (Mr. Vampire), Kitty Chan (Three Wishes), Wu Fung (Thunder Cops II), Chung Fat (Enter the Fat Dragon) and Rico Chu (Operation Pink Squad).
