On July 14, 2026, Shout Factory is releasing a 4K Ultra HD for Full Contact, a 1992 Hong Kong action film from director Ringo Lam (Sky on Fire, City on Fire).
Essentially, a Hong Kong remake of John Boorman’s ’60s existential action flick Point Blank (also remade by Mel Gibson in 1999’s Payback), Full Contact is a high-octane mix of guns, motorcycles, sluts, homicidal homosexuals, Road Warrior-rejects, and cock rock.
In the dangerous streets of Bangkok, a tough guy (Chow Yun-fat) is pushed to the edge when his best friend falls into the grip of a ruthless loan shark. Forced to run, they team up with a volatile crew for a high-stakes heist, which turns into an even more deadlier gamble.
Full Contact also stars Simon Yam (Bullet in the Head), Anthony Wong (Hard Boiled), Ann Bridewater (Thundercops 2), Bonnie Fu (Pom Pom and Hot Hot) and Frankie Chan (Burning Ambition).

Footnote: Shout may get ’em out first, but 88 Films and Arrow’s releases are consistently superior (and they hold their value). The bottom line is: Do you like it hard ‘n fast or nice ‘n slow?

Good! Hope there’s some nice extras. Simon Yam’s Judge is one of cinema’s great villains as he’s so psychotic in an almost charismatic way. I like to think Javier Bardem’s Anton Silva in Skyfall was inspired by him.
Is Arrow releasing better versions than Shout really a hot take? Its the general consensus. Better subtitles, menus, artwork and most importantly color grading.
Arrows release of Hard boiled has a color grading that is closer to the DVD releases of the 90s.
I normally will just give a copy of my Shout disc to a relative if i am going to double dip but i can wait if i really have to. To take an extreme example The Swordsman Trilogy by Shout is an abomination. 4K on the first movie that doesn’t look like 4k and then the part 2 and 3 in 1080p upscale which looks worse than the MeiAh and Nova releases froma decade ago. Also no commentaries and only very short interviews with Fennie Yuen and Raymond Lee. This one was a total waste of money. Lets not even get started on the boxart missing the central character of why this trilogy is remembered in the first place.
Shout may get them early but their cover arts of late have been an absolute joke whereas with Arrow it looks all nice and pretty.
Seems the full eye-scene hasn’t been found..had hoped it could be located in the vaults like the mandarin print of big boss and the abt2 workprint. Maybe it too still waiting at the HKFA
