Today’s Deal on Fire is the Blu-ray for Air Strike, a Chinese-produced World War II film directed by Xiao Feng (Hushed Roar). The film is also known as Unbreakable Spirit and/or The Bombing.
Air Strike features an all-star, international cast that includes Bruce Willis (Last Man Standing), Nicholas Tse (The Viral Factor), Song Seung-Heon (A Better Tomorrow), William Chen (Triad), Liu Ye (Police Story 2013), Adrien Brody (Dragon Blade), Fan Bing Bing (The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom) and Simon Yam (Cross). Additionally, Mel Gibson (Edge of Darkness) will be working behind the scenes as the film’s art director and executive producer.
According to Variety, the $65M movie, shot in 3D, is a dramatic recreation of the Chinese population’s abiding endurance during the more than five years that Japan bombed the city of Chongqing, beginning in 1938.

Just like De Niro and all these other guys (Val Kilmer, Seagal), I think Bruce Willis needs to do “more quality, than quantity” type projects… but hey, maybe he needs the money.

I didn’t like the way he; (Willis). referred to Maggie Q as; the ‘Asian Chick’ in Die Hard 4 though. I believe the title of the film is now called: ‘Live Free Or Die Hard’.
How times have changed eh!
Trailer looks nice, but I hope the people involved wanted to do a good movie and it’s not just smoke up our backsides.
I guess the distributors couldn’t call it “Unbreakable Spirit” in the US for obvious reasons.
Looks like this is yet another sack of Chinese propaganda.
Lionsgate – picking up slices of Asian cinema that no other distributor wants since, well, far too long. This actually got cancelled from being screened in China due to the Fan Bingbing scandal, so it’s target audience will be mercifully sparred from what looks like a steaming pile of cinematic trash.
Sheesh! Is the evidence that concrete?
Yeah the evidence was pretty irrefutable, several “yin-yang contracts” had been signed for movies she’s featured in. While the official government line is that she hasn’t committed a crime, she has received a fine of $129 million for tax evasion. Basically, she’s the Chinese Wesley Snipes.
Lol what isa “yin-yang contract”?
It’s the expression that’s been coined for when an actor has one contract which details their actual earnings, and another one with a lower figure, with the latter being submitted to the tax authorities so a lower level of tax can be paid than what’s actually owed.
Air Strike was quietly released in the States past October, but unfortunately, I read that all the Chinese actors are dubbed into English. I’m thinking about holding off if the Asian dvd has the original voices.
