The Big Heat | 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray (Shout)

In February 2026, Shout is releasing the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray for The Big Heat, a 1988 Hong Kong action film from directors Andrew Kam (Fatal Termination), Johnnie To (A Hero Never Dies) and Tsui Hark (Double Team).

The story follows an honored police inspector (played by Waise Lee) who is forced to resign after discovering he has nerve damage in his gun hand. When his informant and friend is murdered, he sets aside his unwanted retirement to track down the killer. Joey Wong also stars.

    Ugly cover, as usual.

    Is it a zombie movie, Waise Lee vs the undead? I’ve laugh quite a bit watching the two guys jumping (could it be a remake of Fame?)!

    I’ve been waiting for a good release of this film! I’ve had the Mega Star DVD for years.

    It was nice to see Waise Lee star as a good guy for a change, and Chu Kong as a sadistic villain was fun to watch. The action was plentiful as well.
