‘Godzilla Minus One’ filmmaker signs on for his first English-language film ‘Grandgear’ for Sony and J.J. Abrams

Takashi Yamazaki (The Fighter Pilot), the director of the massively successful 2023 kaiju thriller, Godzilla Minus One, has been hitched by Sony Pictures for Grandgear.

The upcoming English-language film is based off an original screenplay by Yamazaki, who is also producing. Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams will also produce along with Glen Zipper (The Blue Angels), via Deadline.

Plot details for Grandgear are being kept under wraps, but we’ll fill you in as soon as we learn more. For now, we leave you with the Trailer for Godzilla Minus One:

    And another one Asian going to Hollywood!

    I hope his Doreamon – Stand by me 3 (co directed this time,…) will be as good as the first two and that he will still do the next resl Godzilla…or is it the next real Godzilla, and I won’t see a Godzilla in English. But it’s Sony, not Toho, so…
