RELEASE DATE: September 9, 2024

On September 9, 2024, 88 Films is releasing the Blu-ray for The Golden Lotus, a 1974 Shaw Brothers film directed by Li Han-Hsiang (Hsi Shih Beauty of Beauties).

Although most famous for their kung fu movies, Hong Kong’s legendary Shaw Brothers studio made more than just chop socky; taken from a (famously saucy) classic novel, Golden Lotus is an epic tale of a passionate – and sometimes destructive – love affair between a rich man and a poor women, a potent story of lust and power.

Co-starring no less than Jackie Chan in one of his earliest roles and directed by the award-winning Li Han Hsiang, Golden Lotus reveals the true strength and diversity of Hong Kong filmmaking.

The film stars Peter Yang Kwan (From the Highway), Hu Chin (Dreaming Fists with Slender Hands), Chen Ping (Oily Maniac), Tanny Tien Ni (Runaway Blues), Chiang Nan (Shaolin Martial Arts), Tin Ching (My Rebellious Son), Dean Shek Tin (Dance of Death), Teresa Ha Ping (Lucky Stars Go Places), Liu Wu-Chi (14 Amazons), Lau Wai-Ling (Return of the Sentimental Swordsman), Wong Yu (Executioners from Shaolin), Wang Lai (The Association), Chan Shen (Flag of Iron), and Wang Han-Chen (Dynamo).
