Now available is Eureka’s Blu-ray (Region B) for Slaughter in San Francisco (aka Yellow Faced Tiger), a 1974 Golden Harvest actioner directed by Lo Wei (Fist of Fury) that stars Don Wong Tao (The Hot, the Cool and the Vicious) and Chuck Norris (Code of Silence).
San Francisco police officers Don Wong (Wong Tao) and John Summer (Robert Jones) save a young woman (Sylvia Chang) from being assaulted by a gang of criminals. Unfortunately, all the crime in San Francisco is run by Chuck Slaughter (Chuck Norris), who doesn’t take kindly to police interfering in his business. Wong is kicked off the force by his corrupt Captain, and Summer is murdered by Slaughter’s men. Using his powerhouse kung fu skills, Wong vows to clean up the streets and take down Slaughter once and for all!
A gloriously trashy slice of gritty kung fu action, Slaughter in San Francisco was producer Raymond Chow’s attempt to capitalise on Hong Kong cinema’s sudden explosion of popularity in the West. Eureka Classics is proud to present Slaughter in San Francisco for the first time ever on Blu-ray from a new 2K restoration!
The film also stars Sylvia Chang Ai Chi (The Tattooed Dragon), Chin Yuet Sang (Hocus Pocus) and features action choreography by Han Ying Chieh (The Big Boss).

Wow. I appreciate the fine work Eureka!, 88 Films, Arrow, etc. are doing in bringing fans of classic Hong Kong action cinema their favorite movies in much improved quality with loads of enjoyable bonus content, I’m loving this parent revival of appreciation for Hong Kong classics of the 70s, 80s, & 90s, but … have we officially reached the bottom of the barrel with this release? Slaughter In San Francisco? Really? You do realize you can’t polish a turd, right?
We have a polishing face off between Eureka and 88 Films right now….in Eureka’s corner they have ‘Slaughter in San Francisco’, and in the 88 Films corner they have ‘Fearless Hyena II’, this one’s going to go down to the wire!
You can definitely polish turd so a “so bad, it’s good” film is presented better! =) I’m looking forward to seeing Don Wong’s remastered turtle neck!
I give the nod to Slaughter In San Francisco because at least the title is kind of cool. Not to be confused with Heartbreak In San Francisco which described me after the Lions blew a 24-7 lead.
