What do you think of the new cityonfire.com? Please drop us an email (or leave a comment below) if you have any questions or comments.
In case you haven’t noticed: In addition to the new reviews, we have been adding past reviews from the old site (check out the January and February archives to see those reviews). There are A LOT more to come, so check back often. Only newly written/submitted reviews will be listed in the “recently added” button.
We have a small, but awesome group of people keeping this site active. We’re doing our best to make cityonfire.com a fun, relaxing and informative spot to read reviews, browse the latest movie news and take note of new and upcoming DVD/Blu-ray releases.
On behalf of Skynet, thank you for visiting!
I dig it! Hoping you get around to transfering all of the old reviews over soon. I’m looking for a bunch that I wrote back in the day. Keep it up fellas!
Thanks for the feedback. =D I know, man! I’ve been scattered (doing some Korean here, some Japanese there… this, that). Gotta work on those Cat III films. I’ll make it a point my next batch update. Been adding so many reviews; at one point, my right hand started hurting (from the mouse, that is!)
I’m very impressed with ningen and the news he reports. I don’t have the time to check out all of his sources, so I get the best of the real news right here! Plus he has it down to a science and knows a lot of people who are reliable. Great job ningen!
As for you MPM, I’m impressed with your updated website and vision for the future! You seem to be very excited about COF and that energy is felt in reviews and articles. I don’t know of any other place online that has truly, such a noble goal of creating/restoring the best, most accurate information cinema database of a variety of films!
I love reading reviews. Especially such a wide variety! I don’t read reviews at some other sites because they all say essentially the same thing. The atmosphere here is great and unhurried.
I have better than normal vision and I can’t stand reviews or articles crammed around ads and even more ads. I like the simple clean reviews format. Informative site, great reviews – why would I want to go any where else?
Thanks for the kind words, JJ.
Ningen does kick ass. He’s a movie news machine. It really has been a solid group effort. Your reviews have been awesome, diverse, and you keep ’em coming. I’m looking forward to more reviews and writers – old and new. It’s also good to see tgushiniere aboard! I just hope your guys’ mouse-hand isn’t as soar as mine is. =D
AS for any ads that are on the site, I try to keep them relevant, clean and not too scattered. If it ever gets out of hand, just let me know. 😉
lol skynet
Love the new look. Very clean. Keep up the good work.
Thanks SMK. Likewise (on your site, that is). Use it A LOT. Sure you’ve noticed. =D
Very grateful to read you’re reloading all the old reviews, when I visited last month to look up a film I got a bit of a shock: “What happened to all the JC movies???” Reading the informative and entertaining reviews has been by far my #1 reason to visit cityonfire and their disappearance came as a reminder that it’s often too easy to take a fan-run site like this for granted. Now with the demise of HKFlix.com, those reviews have become even more valuable as a resource. I for one greatly appreciate your dedication.
One suggestion, it would be very handy if you could divide reviews alphabetically so that clicking on ‘P’ would take you to the films that start with ‘P.’ With the current database, visitors have to guess at what page number ‘P’ will appear.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad COF is one of your primary sources for reviews, especially with hkflix in the gutter.
I spent some time today looking for some plug-ins that would allow what your asking. As it stands, I think i would have to basically go back and edit every single review and add their own little alphabet tag (which I should have done to begin with), then categorize them into their each letter. I’ll have to ask one of my web/tech guys if there’s an easier way to do so.
Sorry about the “missing” JC reviews.
I think once I get the majority of reviews over, better search results will start popping up. I know it’s frustrating to type a title and get close matches instead of the review you’re looking for.
Until then, please stand by. I never realized how many reviews COF had until I started transferring them over.
Love the look of the new site, MPM. Only wish you would have included a screen grab of the Jaymee Ong mainpage that got me hooke don your site in the first place.
Been getting a kick out of reading my old reviews, and those of Joe, ANM, Neil and the rest.
Will be stopping by daily to check out the latest…and you might see a review or two come your way. 🙂
PS…how do I get a fancy link and a bio like the hot shot new guys?
lol Dude, nice to see you around. While moving over the old reviews, I’ve also been getting a kick out of them. I just read your Sassy Girl review. Dude, drop me an email and I’ll send you directions. =D Again, great to hear from you. Yeah, watch out for the news guys/gals… they’re taking over where Time and Tide let off.
Is your email the fifbeat one?
Yep.
Ningen you could be a top notch investigator for the department I work at! Your that good with all the news items you sniff out! Seriously, you do a fantastic job, and so do all the contributers at COF. It is a pleasure to check out every one’s amazing contributions, and MPM you’re doing an incredible job with COF! Thanks for making me feel welcome!!
