RELEASE DATE: July 6, 2021.
On July 6, 2021, Well Go USA is releasing the Blu-ray & DVD for the action-packed martial arts epic Silat Warriors: Deed of Death (aka Geran).
When a reckless young gambler’s wild lifestyle of illegal gambling, drag racing, and betting on brutal street fights pits him against a ruthless criminal betting ring, his luck finally runs out. The gang shows up at his family’s home to collect on the debt, forcing his family to fight in order to save their land and his life—before their limited time runs out.
In addition to actors Namron (One Two Jaga, Dukun, Redha) and Fad Anuar (Dollah Superstar, TV’s KL Gangster: Underworld), first-time film director Areel Abu Bakar selected much of the talent from martial arts training facilities and competitions in order to give a sense of realism the exciting action sequences. His first-time actors include Khoharullah Majid, Feiyna Tajudin, Taiyuddin Bakar, Megat Shahrizal and Azlan Komeng.
Silat Warriors: Deed of Death won the Daniel A. Craft Award for Excellence in Action Cinema at the 2020 New York Asian Film Festival, the first Malaysian film to win the award.

Nope. I won’t try this one. Looks like a poor remake of Ong Bak and The raid 2.
This looks great.
Half of the footage in that trailer looks like it was lifted straight from The Raid 2. Not that I’m necessarily disappointed.
I subscribed to Hi-Yah to watch Silat Warriors, and it was pretty good.
Admittedly, the first half of the movie isn’t interesting as it focuses on the younger brother in the family as his gambling addiction puts them in danger, and you end up not caring about him because he doesn’t show remorse for it.
The older brother ends up being the action hero of the title, and once he unleashes his moves, he’s shown as a clearly better fighter in comparison to the younger brother’s fairly sloppy arm and leg waving. The sister is also a pretty good screen fighter, and it would have been nice to see more of her.
The second half is one fight scene after another, and it’s great stuff. I’d like to see the cast collaborate with Iko, Joe, Cepcep and Yayan, but it’s nice to see other people do Silat for a change.
I agree, it felt like they missed an opportunity with the sister, in that they should have given her character more fight scenes. The actress could clearly hold her own!
Hopefully her next movie is a bigger showcase.
