Granted, I still need to see a couple of his movies (like “Fortress” and the serial killer Chess flick (!) “Knight Moves), but I would still call “The Hunted” Christoher Lambert’s best film after “Highlander.” It’s pure class. Definitely worth picking up on Blu-ray.
I caught this movie by accident on cable years ago. I thought it was pretty good. That train sequence was pretty horrific before Yoshio Harada saved the day.
I’ve never seen this one, but the fact I connect Christopher Lambert and trains with the awful ‘Kickboxer: Retaliation’ is resulting in some kind of mental barrier which is preventing me from checking it out.
Paul, it’s pretty good, man. I was about to post the “Train Fight Sequence” here, but I seriously didn’t want to rob of you of watching one of the greatest U.S. action scenes of all time within the context of the movie (much more impact when you see the film as a whole).
i do like The Hunted, and any movie with Chris Lambert picking up a sword is very good fun, and when you got him romancing Joan Chen, and then having to learn the ways of the Ninja from Tak Kubota as a Drunken Swordmaster before he takes on John Lone’s Ninja clan in the finale…great fun, and yes that train assault is epic
funny thing is years later, i was working in Singapore on HBOAsia’s SERANGOON ROAD, and had to go pick up Joan Chen who was our leading lady at the airport when she arrived from the States bright and early one morning and by chance we’d rewatched THE HUNTED the night before where she makes her debut in a stunning red dress….now her manager had told us that Joan might not be at her best as she didn’t like flying etc, and we’re at Changi airport when this stunning beauty in a red dress comes zipping through immigration looking better than she did in the movie….
Joan Chen. Still the hottest Eskimo to be committed to film.
Cool story Mike. 🙂
This film was the clear highlight of a Lambertathon I had ten years ago with friends.. The other films were KNIGHT MOVIES, FORTRESS and MEAN GUNS … Though I rate FORTRESS pretty highly too.. As someone pointed out, the bullet-train sequence in The Hunted is great.
Finally, people wont have to HUNT for this on blu-ray!
