The film is choreographed by the trifecta of Chui Fat, Fan Chin-Hung, and Lung Sang, who all worked together on the previous years Fire Phoenix, everyone gets a chance to strut their stuff. Now we’re talking!
Another masterpiece, I guess…
Bring on Born to defenceI don’t know, but not that kind of crap!
I feel let down by 88 films here. Quality of the actual movie aside, the cat 3 version splices crappy vhs quality footage into the remastered but cut version of the movie. I hate this type of reconstruction. I had the same issue with Arrow’s Mandarin Cut of The Big Boss.
It wasn’t VHS, it was laserdisc and That’s all they had available. It was either that, or nothing. 88 Films tried to get the film elements for the CAT III version but sadly had no luck. Companies like 88 Films are doing their best to stop films of this nature from falling into obscurity or being forgotten. They’ll always have my support!
A substandard product is still a substandard product even if they tried their best. I’m a customer not a fanboy
I’m also a customer, FYI. And they do their best to bring us old movies as best they can. I’m sure you can do better trying to resource these old indie movies yeah? Nobody is forcing you to buy or watch. Move on.
I imagine it 88 Films or Eureka ever do a Blu Ray of the uncut Stone Age Warriors, they’re going to have to source from a multitude of formats like the home made copy a friend of mine has. His was a combination of VHS, VCD, and Laserdisc, and while the picture and sound was not the best quality, it wasn’t awful either.
All things considered, I would be happy with something that’s watchable, and I don’t think that makes me a fanboy that kowtows to mediocrity.
I remember when Tai Seng released the DVD of 1992’s Dragon Inn, and it wasn’t the gold standard for picture quality, but it was much better than its looked before.
If it hasn’t already been re-released, I’d be interested in how the Blu could make it good.
Are you 10 years old? You are the epitome of a fanboy. Grow up , talk to woman and put your hobby into perspective. Do you think it was 88 films who did the remastering? It wasnt. They license the movies from whoever has the rights and maybe do a few new interviews. Their decision to try to reconstruct the Cat 3 version was ill thought out considering the results are substandard.
Now now, there’s no need for the straw man approach. I am interested in how the footage compares to the rest of the film, and I think it will be unique seeing it all come together.
